We keep looking for the cheapest way of doing things without even considering what might be the future cost of that approach. Just look at all the recalls. How much is all that costing us and how much of that could have been prevented if things weren't rushed or done with cost-saving in mind instead of quality?

As I said so many times, not even the best business school knows how to achieve success. They teach what not to do, and what should be in place for a company to be successful. However, the moment you bring real life examples that contradict their "science", those become "exemptions" to the rule.
MBAs remind me of acting degrees. When I used to see "Inside the Actors Studio", all those chairs full of students of acting degrees trying to learn from the "celebrities" in the acting business, and many of the celebrities never went to study anything related to acting, I realized being an actor was more of innate talent, connections and luck, than studies. Still, many young people keep paying these colleges to become "actors/actresses" with no roles to play.
Well, same thing happens with MBAs. MBAs have no clue on how to manage a business, but they paid a hefty amount to "learn" business. They think they know all about business because they have a piece of paper saying MBA, so they don't even know what they don't know. MBAs are poor generalists, and except a few of them, don't realize it.
yeah you see all these "executive mba" programs... is it really the same as a real MBA that takes 2 grueling years? is it just credentialing? i doubt Elon has an MBA. i seem to recall he actively mocks them:

Ford Motor loves those business degrees. Engineers can be bean counters but bean counters can't be engineers! The result is more and more recalls. Upper management has no clue because they lack engineering skills also.
