In nature and in human life, the weak tend to wither and die off. Those associated with a sick animal or zombie company are well aware of it. First they try to help their mate... but eventually, they abandon the effort knowing they can do nothing to remedy the situation and move on to green pastures.

Leixlip is now seriously under manned. Due to the hiring freeze, they are moving people in from Israel. They are running taskforce to try and stop the exodus, but it is not working.

Intel has made many mistakes on hiring/layoffs in the last few years...

  1. First, the company said demand looked fine and kept hiring in 2022.
  2. Next, the company announces there will be layoffs and big cost cuts.
  3. For 1-2 quarters, much was said but HC wasn't cut much.
  4. Using quarterly data, we know the HC is down just 10,000 from the peak but still above 2019 levels. 20,000 additional cuts will be needed because PC demand isn't coming back any time soon.
  5. The company is losing billions every quarter but hasn't cut the heads fast enough while spooking all the employees and experience huge productivity drops.

Look at any list of companies that have laid off thousands of people over the last 9 months. Intel is not really mentioned.

The truth is Intel under reports layoffs. If you add all layoffs reports in last 2 years, the number you get is like 5k max. Cuts so far > 10k

"Uhhh, no. In Oregon, the WARN act kicks in over a certain threshold and must be reported. This can be searched here: https://ccwd.hecc.oregon.gov/Layoff/WARN
Besides, the Oregonian has an inside source and will publicize anything "Intel""

Uhhh, yes. When did you begin thinking that the state government and intel are separate entities. Who do you think Intel and Nike help get elected. And as for the federal government, I question what side they are on now. It does not seem to be that of the American worker. They probably just want to replace you with cheap subservient foreign labor. You know the ones that will bend the knee quickly.

Yeah Intel is def playing 'hide the ball' here... Not sure why, because you can just track the layoffs with end of quarter headcount reported in earnings releases...

It sure looks like Pat is trying to implement Andy Grove's playbook of 'investing your way out of a recession'...

but, it is being misapplied here. Andy did it during a period where PC demand and gross margins were expanding... but, now Intel is in commoditized decline...

So, Pat holding onto excessive employees is doing nothing but helping to drain cash from the company... cash that his needed for the IFS 'moonshot'...

Let’s not forget …we only know about California because they have early reporting rules….. we can cut as much as we want with minimal publicity in Oregon and Arizona .
