Switching jobs internally in Q4. What do you need to know

If you switch jobs internally in q4 how are bonuses, raises, and performance reviews impacted? Are you essentially rated with you old team and how can you ensure switching roles and leaving your old team is not held against you for any of these things?

You will be a designated two rating for sure. As a manager I fill my quota of 1's and 2's with the new people in year 1. And no, I dont tell them that before hand.

Why would anyone want to stay at Wells Fargo? This toxic bank might go down in the next couple of years, who knows? You can find a much better opportunity outside. I am looking right now.

Your first mistake was moving internally. Second is doing it in 4Q. You’re better off going outside and negotiating sign on for bonus based on last year’s payout.

You will likely have your merit “included” in your offer. They may say that explicitly, they may not. They may tell you it is not included in your offer but come March your new manager will insist it was. Kiss your bonus goodbye - it will be funded by the group you left. Your new group will blame them for the poor payout and not feel an ounce of guilt for not including you in their pool.

If the offer is not $$$$$ I’d stay put.

Prorated. Both can weigh in on performance & depending on date, you may forfeit raise for “promotion.”

Talk to recruiter & hiring manager for impacting dates.

Well take this as you will, but when my coworker switched teams (but not departments) , they looked at his stats, but this was a mid year thing and the same department. Sorry I could not be more helpful
