Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I unfortunately got the axe last week. Suggestions greatly appreciated

Had shy of 5 years (3 months off) and received the career transition plan late last week. Anything I should remember before signing off? The plan is the brochure but does not state specifically what I am entitled to (I have 2 days unused vacation pay for example that I am hoping I will be compensated for).

This hit me like a ton of bricks. Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

@OP

What's a "career transition plan"? Is that what they are calling the involuntary layoff?

The minor cuts, a few dozen here and a few dozen there, continue.

We are no longer going to see X1000 layoffs, but a consistent on going stream of them.

What a culture.

Sorry you have to go though this, I'm sure things will work out for you. Keep your head up and stay as positive as you can. Don't let Ford take your joy. It's a job and you will find something else. What area of the company were you in?

@jzv

At Ford, we all became 1-trick ponies. Don't forget " Web Ex Engineer" .

You didn't mention what general education you have, like IT or engineering. I'd say if you are an engineer then there's a lot out there other than automotive. Don't rule out moving out of state in the future if you can

Ford don't give a damn about you. You are done. No benefits for having only 5 years.

At Ford, we all became 1-trick ponies like "door handle engineer". So I transitioned to defense & aerospace in 2008. Get an advanced degree & get out of Detroit !

OP,

Learn how to invest the money you have, get at least two financial advisors to get different options. TSLA is good investment, and for some reason CVNA is very good.

The job market is dismal. The job boards will have 100's of job postings, but don't get your hopes up. I have contacted several recruiters and they told me they have nothing to go on, since hiring has been shut down.
