Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I’m on a team but literally work in isolation

There’s no collaboration, no one works on anything together.

I’ve learned nothing since I’ve joined and my manager is just always upset with me because I can’t do the work of 4 people

This places su-ks and is a place where only quiet quitters and people with no ambition stay.

@2xgj+1oCKFGqi offshoring & LCC white collar is gonna happen whether the UAW increases occur or not. we all know that assembly goes to mexico as soon as it becomes politically expedient. it's one vehicle after another. hence: make money before it all crashes down.

Be like everyone else on this forum - just quiet quit. Most people here haven't really 'worked' since quarantine. And many of them didn't really work before that either.

It's all about 'who' you know. Not 'what' you know.

For the last two years I've laughed at every joke my LL6 or LL5 has said. And I parrot back to them some version of what they just said so it sounds like my idea matches theirs. And this is the most important part - I always oppose anyone that the boss doesn't like. I make sure to question their ideas or not support them when they need help. I am always in the office for at least 40~50 hours, even if I am just 'looking' busy - it has much better optics than the actual smart employee who gets his work done in 30 hours so he can leave to pick up his kids - trust me. I have received two Top Achiever rankings and the raises that go along with them.

If you want to survive here at Ford, you have to learn to play the game.

All USA OEMs will become assembly plants and executive leadership as the only things left in USA. Everything else will be offshored. The UAW contract improvements will just expedite the offshoring process.

There once was a time when collaboration was beneficial when we were one team. Current environment with offshoring jobs is not that. Hoard your work so no one is crosstrained on your job. Don't shoot yourself in the foot later.

Whether I work from home or go into the office, my job can still be done from India. Going into the office unnecessarily doesn’t change that.

Relax. I like "working from home". And no collaboration might be some job security for me as no one cross trained to do what I do so there is risk to eliminate me.
