You do NOT forfeit PTO. Read your employee handbook or numerous posts in Info Center. And yes, I'm in California so we can accrue up to 1.5 times our annual PTO allowance. That adds up to a lot for an old timer like me. I opted not to wait for the pink slip. I quit. Looking forward to the big pay out.

You get paid for unused accrued PTO regardless of state you are in.

It depends whether your state considers PTO wages.

CA does, which is why Californians can carry over lots of PTO each year up to the cap amount.

In some states, they have to pay you out. California is an example. Check your state laws.

pretty sure you forfeit it, this is why most people take their accrued PTO before they quit
