On Friday, Carrie T. a former WF Executive and convicted felon, got sentenced to 120 hours of community service, a peanuts (for her wealth) $100,000 fine, 6 months house confinement in her mansion, and 2 years probation, for wrecking Community Bank, triggering billions in fines and an asset cap for a half a decade now, and a great loss of trust among customers and employees.
Do you think there will be a press release this week by WF or Charlie about this? It should read something like this: "Dear fellow teammates, on Friday, a former WF executive was sentenced for a felony charge of obstructing a bank examination. Ms. T was also allowed to retire to a life of luxury after the biggest scandal in WF history that resulted in much embarrassment to the company and our shareholders and employees. We strongly disagree with her unjust sentence in that it does not provide the criminal or social justice for her conduct or felonious behavior that detrimentally impacted so many of our valued customers and hard working team members, including vulnerable customers, and which cost our shareholders material, costly regulatory fines. This kind of behavior is not welcome at WF and will never be tolerated, as we uphold ourselves to high ethical and moral standards. We are again sorry to customers and employees for the pain and suffering caused by Ms. T's actions and are disappointed that the courts did not provide a more just and equitable sentence for this criminal behavior."
As someone in Washington DC would say, C'Mon Man! This will never happen. But it's what leadership and integrity (when they claim they care about social justice) should look like.
