Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What if this is all planned

What if this strike was a collaboration between Ford and the UAW to be the pretext for the "bloodbath" that's going to happen on 09-23-2023?

Ford will eventually give the UAW the number they agreed on, and they use that increase as pretext to layoff a % of the salaried workers. Not sure about the math here, but maybe a 20-30% increase in UAW pay is nothing compared to the savings done by laying off salaried workers

Something to think about....

EV's don't need piston engines - so no engine plant, foundry for conrods, valves and heads. How many plants can we close given a sweetheart deal to labor if it only lasts for two or three years?

EV's don't need transmissions - so no transmission plant, don't need castings, clutches, hardened spool valves etc etc etc. So there's another six or ten plants to shutter in the next couple of years if you consider assembly and component machining etc.

Ev's currently need tons of materials the Chinese have been stockpiling for years.

Bernie ran on a platform that proclaimed no gas engines by 2030. Thats 6.3 years everybody.... Check it out for yourselves.

With EV costs high and inflation gobbling up income, sales of EVs will go down too.

So ask yourself: Even if the UAW succeeds in their campaign, will it simply accelerate the dismantling of the traditional car business? Remember Bernie wants to see fossil fuels banned and no gas engines by 2023. Hmmmm. He's not alone.

Yeah yeah, everybody thinks this is too wild to contemplate. Never happen. Uncle Sammy would bail the business out. Why? By the way I think some Chinese companies would be interested in buying those empty factories so they can be major players in the new EV business. I doubt they'll be flying the UAW flag out front.

China currently holds 96% of global copper inventories, 75% of global aluminum, 70% of corn, 54% of wheat, 30% of soybeans and 22% of crude oil: JPM

Planned?! Reduction of salaried NA employees was decided towards the end of M Fields days. Hackett executed it under the " Smart Redesign " program. Eliminating older employees who started service pre-2001 ( pension eligible ). Thousands of age discrimination lawsuits were filed against Ford ( and won by the former employees ). Pigs like Hackett, Robinson and now Farley continue to target employees based on age and salary - achievements/ skill sets are meaningless. The terminations of 8/22 and 7/23 included enough of an age mix to avoid future lawsuits. Lawler is controlled by Farley and is desperate to produce the numbers the greedy Ford family demand. UAW strike will get spun by Truby ( as if anyone believes him ), the US Gov't will grant more multi-billiuon dollar loans. EV is a big lie, a smokescreen to reduce NA headcount, offshore jobs and obviously for Farley to maintain his undeserved position. Investors are well aware what a mess Ford is. Farley has accomplished noting during his tenure at Ford and even less during his time at Toyota/ Scion ( they were thrilled to get rid of him ). He throws temper tantrums, incapable of making product decisions and targets and eliminates anyone that poses a threat. More layoffs? Of course they're coming, Date? It's already happening quietly and several hundred at a time vs thousands. LL4/5/6s are useless, they are all hiding and backstabbing as lists are produced ( Boston Consulting was paid plenty! ). Its only a guess but Model E and the Design studios will be next to take a big hit. EV programs are being cancelled or delayed which reduces headcount needed. A Lo is targetting the 3 NA Design Directors and plenty of LL5s which have produced IMO garbage, especially Lincoln. Good luck to all, 2023 is going to be a very very ugly year.

@occ+1oGeiLXq I am only a peon in Ford, and I stand nothing to gain by fabricating sh-t. I'm actually looking outside.

@jgl+1oGeiLXq they would if since they just had a huge layoff on June. Wouldn't look good if they had another one 3 months latee

Ford doesn't need any pretext for salaried layoffs, so that's a strange conspiracy theory to float.

Don't be surprised to see a government bailout! Last thing Biden wants is to lose the UAW support and to have the economy slip into a deeper recession. It was less than two weeks ago Granholm threw out a $12bn number to have former ICE vehicle assembly plants be converted to EV.
As many of us know most of the bills passed today are in name only and have nothing to do with the subject.

There are a few bright spots in Brazil and India, but the majority are producing horrible quality and only do what their leaders say. Leaders change direction every week. Recipe for disaster.

More likely @OP is the one in collaboration with Ford to make up stories likethis.

Op I was thinking the same. JF wants a strike so he can work his diabolical Ford Plus Plan as a we-pon to fire yet another 5,000 salary heads in the USA 🇺🇸 end of September. But this will be a massive failure because Mexico, India and South America people doesn’t have the talents or expertise or experience to deliver all of the upcoming PHEV projects or vehicle programs in the cycle plan through 30MY.
