Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

It’s happening… we’re returning to campus for 4 days, if not 5!

The powers that be have officially voted… they are going to require us to return to and work from the office 4 days a week, if not 5! Hoping that they incentivize somehow, with free lunches or something.

How is this going to affect your life? Leave your comments!

That’s ok - because we are not a technology company. We are a footwear and apparel business. Innovation needs to come from our F&A side and not GT. We need to stop taking our eye off the ball and return to our roots. Let’s stop pretending we’re something we’re not.

Nike doesn’t attract top talent anymore, at least not in technology.

If we want to attract and retain top talent = we must accept that our business, industry, and world is different than it was pre-Covid. In order to be a leader for the next 50 years, we must continue to adapt.

Nike is spending a lot of time and money on resetting buildings in West Campus. I take that to mean RTO is coming soon.

While there are certainly enough dinosaurs in the various MT/LT roles that would like to see this, it would cause such a revolt - there’s simply no going back to how things were pre Covid.. The world of work has changed - anyone in the LT that fails to recognize this is setting Nike up for failure.

Some of us have been back 4 - 5 days a week. Quit your whining. You can do it!

Hopefully it’s the first sign of the CEO getting his a-s kicked out!

This is not a hard + fast confirmation. The SLT has “supposedly” been talking about this for over a year. Until I see JD send something confirming this I don’t put much weight on this.

The implication of requiring work to take place at the office means that work cannot be performed at home. There is no reconciling the two.

It’s not about being cry babies or whatever some want to call it. There is no return to before Covid. The world has changed. Infrastructure systems have shifted.

A soft layoff will disproportionately impact female, minority, neurodivergent, caretaker, and physically disabled workers.

Welcome to real life, time to let go those afternoon naps. Hopefully we will deliver SEC now, after spending more than $2B

Like… no one is MAKING you do anything. If you have a good leader, they will let you continue to do your job remotely 1 or 2 days per week.

I highly doubt people will be monitoring how often you are badging in or time at your desk.

Chill.

Employees are already disgruntled with the stock price sub $95, and leadership does this? Indeed feels like soft layoffs. Or last gasp of an expiring CEO.

What? You mean we have to go back to life before Covid? Oh dear how will we cope? Incentives? How about keeping your job? What a soft, whiny brat this poster is.
