Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Tomorrow’s earnings call - lots on the line

JD’s posture will likely be optimistic despite 5 important factors dictating growth reality: 1) reality of China, 2) wholesale slowdown, 3) macro headwinds, 4) innovation freeze and 5) questionable shareholder value w lowest stock price in years…

Question: will this be his last earning’s call? BOD makes the tough decision before JD saves himself, cutting costs with another layoff?

Lots at stake.

And that's what you call earnings management. Structural issues remain (weak product, China, etc.).

Not a huge fan of the 400+ VP’s who presided over the teams that watched the stock being destroyed. Not a big fan of those teams either.

Not a JD fan but a lot of doom and gloom leadership look silly right now.

JD is a self professed tech company CEO, whereas we need someone who has come up through the ranks, whose heart beats to Nike, to innovation, and who has a ki-ler attitude towards crushing our competition, everywhere and all the time. And makes decisions with some degree of urgency.

I don’t think JD is a bad person and I think he should be respected on the way out. And I think that is the messaging to the public - he came in to a difficult situation and “successfully” accomplished what he was asked.

Was he successful? Being a “tech CEO” and seeing where GT is today, I would say no. AC was a supply chain guy who took the fall for GT, but given tech is JD’s realm, the ultimate responsibility relies with him, especially as CEO.

I wish him well but I’ve had enough of our peacock who thinks he’s a football coach.

MP didn’t have guts to take some of the actions taken by JD

People who look at the stock price daily can't see the forest for the trees. John isn’t my favorite CEO but you had realize he was coming in as a short term leader anyway. 4-5 years max. My assumption, that tenure is coming soon mostly because he came in to deliver what he was suppose to do. Was it successful? I’d say mixed

Hang on to your stock options, this is just short term pain. Tide will change, Nike is position very well for growth.

Just based on how you write, I feel like you write one post per week about how you hate the CEO. Seems like you should hit the external job board.

Granted, not happy about the stock price either but it did the same last Sept.
