Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Dividend not mitigating stock price slide

Dividend now at 8.2%-ish.

What % do you think the dividend would have to get to before people start buying VZ/ stabilizing the stock price?
10%, 15%

Everything to do with layoffs at Verizon. Asking the question is silly.

The VZ corporate share price drives the strategic decision making: Examples, whether to have layoffs and how large in % and magnitude and to ensure that free cash flow is always positive -- dont need to incur any business loans.

I can get a fairly riskless CD for around 5% so that 8% div only gets me about 3% play on the VZ stock price. If I buy at 33, I can only afford for it to drop to 32 before I start losing money vs a plain CD. That in essence is why the world isn't jumping at the dividend. If people felt the stock was on the upswing then 8% would be great. But stock still going down.

When they announce Hans departure... Only then will the stock improve.
Until then, just collect the DIV and try not to look at the balance.
Just like we did back in 2011...
