I feel like we are never truly safe from layoffs. It wasn't always like this but that's how it is now.

"I've never worked anywhere without layoffs..."
Layoffs are everywhere, but there are companies out there that haven't laid off every quarter or even every year for that matter. It's called, companies that have competent leadership. Trust me, they are out there.
🤡 obviously doesn’t understand what a cognitive test is. An interview isn’t one.
Ignorance appears to be a strength if general Cisco employees. Do a search on “Google jobs GCA” and watch the hits and YouTube videos. Google is your friend. Very easy. Welcome to the 21st Century Cisco dinosaurs.
Sorry, you’re wrong. Most companies stopped doing them in the 80’s.
To allow the supposed selection of “the brightest” many companies introduced a college requirement at the same time—no matter what the degree. I joined a company as an IT newbie in 1980, and never did any test (IBM was still doing them). I was trained as a chemist, but just being a graduate (supposedly) indicated I had enough brains for the job.

“ These sorts of tests have been basically illegal for the last 40 years because the victim minorities cannot do them well.
Sorry that might sting, but it’s solid fact.”
Illegal where? Google does them, so does Amazon. Minorities?! Really?! Know how many minorities Google has all of whom had to get through the GCA? Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Google. When he got, he had to do it too. I know it stings that racist heart of yours but it’s solid fact .
They should do a Cognitive Assessment at Cisco before hiring
They cannot, since the results of these tests would stop them meeting their equity goals.

"No other company in history layoff people more than Csco."
You're either joking or insane. IBM, anyone?
I think some people need a bigger grip on reality.
If you're angry at Cisco (or any company) that says a lot more about you
...because no one remotely talented wants to willingly join such a toxic culture.
I've never worked anywhere without layoffs so if you think layoffs alone define a toxic culture you should just stay in your parent's basement the rest of your life. Layoffs wouldn't even make a top ten list of the reasons Cisco is toxic.
Glad I’m retiring in a couple of years and will be out of all this sh-t. It is complete bullsh-t what Cisco has become and I hate work now. If they lay me off before that then brilliant. Until then I do the minimum possible and max my 401k and health.
@1esb+1oO7kbr9 Try and develop some basic reading skills. That's not what he said. What he said is the layoff culture scares college grads because no one remotely talented wants to willingly join such a toxic culture. Typical of most Cisco employees who possess an attention span of a maggot. Logical thinking is not part of Cisco culture. No wonder the company is in such deep do----o. They should do a Cognitive Assessment at Cisco before hiring, as do the likes of Google and Amazon - but then again, those are not exactly what the airheaded Cisco managers want the company to be. They want their employees as d-mb and d-mber, so that they can rule the sheep.
@fqr+1oO7kbr9 Do college grads often get LR'd?
No other company in history layoff people more than Csco.
The man who invented the modern layoff started by laying off 100,000 people while attracting almost no media attention and that was nearly 40 years ago. His next move was to layoff the "bottom" 10% every year. He was nicknamed "Neutron Jack" after a neutron bo-b as it gets rid of the people while leaving the buildings undamaged. He was also a major inspiration to John Chambers, the previous CEO of Cisco who we can see on this website is still worshiped.
You might also want to do some research on some of the FAANG companies with extremely short average tenures. Companies have a wide variety of ways to make your life miserable.
They certainly aren't teaching people how to develop software in college, and they clearly aren't teaching business either. What are you people doing for four years?
No one is safe, no one.
No other company in history layoff people more than Csco.
Just ask any college grad the last 10 years. Mention to them Csco. First thing comes to their mind is layoffs. FACT. No recovering from this.
Cisco's only value at this point is financial engineering for shareholders. The company is no longer strategic to customers given that they've failed to deliver any innovation for decades. Because of that, employees are just numbers on a spreadsheet that must be culled to make Wall Street happy with the earnings numbers.
It's just that simple.
esp. If you are not part of The Tribe, godspeed.
Wave 4 impacted employees will be notified in Oct and it’s primarily sales.
