Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Are layoffs coming ( or not coming?)

Wondering if I should try to work hard and grow here or just to coast until the grim reaper comes to me and I got thrown out like trash like the others were in the past

It would be awesome if they give the 2 years of pay and benefits that will be in the new UAW contract. I’m sure people near retirement would appreciate a bridge as well. Of course we wouldn’t be humane when we tap the older folks to go. So, back to the whole get rid of people prior to reaching a retirement milestone just to fu-k them for their loyalty and hard work.

I hope the young folks understand how they treat loyalty and act accordingly.

VSSP would be awesome, but I'll take SIRP ;-)

JF cannot afford bad PR right now, salary personnel layoffs are coming once UAW strike is over. SIRP will be done quietly to avoid bad image. Ford cannot afford "too many" white collar workers someone has to pay for UAW demands. Of course, LL's won't go away, they are a sorority, only those with 20+ years will be asked to leave. SIRP is coming it is just a matter of when. My hunch is that SIRP will start in early November. JF may even try to give a skinny bone to those eligible for early retirement to hide those who will be SIRP'ed.
This is my guess and it is good as anyone else's

To those who say keeping your head down and working hard will prevent you from being let go, it’s not true. I always worked hard, worked 50-60 hours per week, got great reviews and never p!seed off anyone and I was let go in one of the recent rounds of layoffs. I have a few friends who were also top achievers that were let go recently. I can only speculate about how they decide who to let go but it’s clear performance is not the only criteria. Working hard and being a person others want to work with will give you a good reputation among your peers and that will help you find your next gig if you need one.

All you people do is worry about getting fired. Keep your head down and do your job, if you do good work and are worth your pay, you have nothing to worry about. If you just want to cry online and collect a paycheck, do us all a favor and quit.

@OP. Yes, you should just coast. That will ensure that you get laid off.
You're getting paid by Ford to do a job. So do the job. If you aren't happy, you still do the job until you can find a new job. Whining on this board doesn't accomplish anything.

You have a third option. Find another job and quit.

Of course layoffs r coming. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when and how many.
