Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Adios amigos

Submitted my resignation on Friday.

What a relief.

25% salary increase, hybrid work with cool office in downtown, unlimited vacations, bonus, 401k with hundreds of funds to chose from, top health insurance and meaningful work, and no outsourcing to low cost countries.

For those who feel it is not possible: you are wrong.

For those who celebrate that people like me are leaving: top performer three years straight, executive potential. Plaid all ExxonMobil cards right. Still consider EM as a $h1tty company with $h1tty leadership and not worth my talent.

Bye bye amigos. Good luck in the next PIP cycle or oil price slump.

Executive potential = political player that did no actual work. Chosen one.

@1bsc don't forget the additional benefit of PTO, is the company does not have to carry (accrue) that liability on the books/balance sheet.

So yes it is a wonderful benefit...............for the company, not the chump (ahem employee!).

@1dcw Unlimited PTO is a thing, but it doesn’t work as advertised.

In practice, no manager is going to let you take more than two weeks off per year.

Companies rolled out unlimited PTO so they wouldn’t have to pay out unused vacation when people leave the company.

The OP is full of BS. Looks like he’s working the thread too.

I'd love to know what company gives unlimited vacations.

Way to go! I just resigned as well for the same total comp… but a far better work environment.

I don’t understand why people are staying at XOM, watching the BTC train barrel down over them.

@OP BS

At least people are using realistic numbers when they make up these lame stories now. People were posting nonsense about getting hired on at MAANGs for 300% pay increases for the longest time.

If you guys would all find something to do besides bust ba--s all day EM might be a slightly less miserable place to work, and you wouldn’t have to post your silly fantasies to the internet in order to cope.

BTW, how did that complaint to the UN human rights council about hot-desking work out? Did they deploy peacekeepers to help you find an outlet for your laptop and adjust your chair?

Op, how many years of service and what industry did you land in?
Really wishing you well and lots of success! For those with a positive attitude and willingness to learn, the job market always has opportunities.

Executives know how to spell "played" but good luck. Hope it all works out for you and you're happier there than you were at Exxon.

Feeling like it’s a relief for all… With the ultra-high level of douchiness in your post, I have no doubt you’re a non-regretted loss. Good luck amigo with your meaningful work, but gut feel is your new coworkers will think you’re a Tool.
