Consumer Reports no longer recommend Mach-E

https://insideevs.com/news/623888/ford-mustang-mache-not-recommended-consumer-reports/

Mach-E quality is so bad that CR no longer recommend it. This does not surprise me since everyone have had so many problems with the vehicle. No wonder the sales have been heading down hill since last year. Not too many people are interested in that vehicle anymore. There are many other EVs with better quality, performance, pricing, and good looking as well. Sorry Ford, you will need to be more innovative.

Ford's cheap finance people put underpowered chips in the Mach-E and then sold it for more than the Tesla Model Y that has a whole lot more CPU. Its no wonder the cars have issues, the tech can't keep up.
I turned in my Bronco after getting laid off. Cr-p tech architecture required constant reset to get CarPlay to work. Not to mention skipping audio with high quality downloads on my phone plugged in (and horrible NVH that made my skin crawl). I was barking up the tree to get our stuff together in software(and hardware) for years and then got cut cuz some VP needed to make his numbers work. Can't wait to get my Model Y when I start my new position making 1.5x what I did at Ford.

Some fans of the real Mustang -- the two-door pony car -- refer to the electric monstrosity as the Mustang Mach-ery.

A friend has a Mach-e only because when her vehicle was totaled, that was the only vehicle on the lot. She hates it, plans to get rid of it asap.

No. No they haven't. That's why there are multiple lawsuits against Ford for Mach-es total loss of power while driving.

But good try, Ford PR. Just stating lies though doesn't make it so.

The article cited was published in November 2022! This is out of date news. The quality issues have been addressed.

@1jgw+1oU35jLP I had a 2021 Mach-E and I got rid of it after 60 months

If you're going to make up a story, at least make sure the math is correct.

I had a 2021 Mach-E and I got rid of it after 60 months of frustration.
I am very happy with my Tesla Model Y. It's a night and day difference between the two vehicles.

So happy that the Mach-meh is not selling! I hope they sit on dealers' lots until they rot and then burst into flames.

I have been told by a local Detroit area Ford dealer that the Mach-E is so ridden with quality issues that they are buying them back from the customer. He said in the last month they have bought 4 back..."quality is Job 1".

I've encountered quality issues like this with first and second generation car models besides Ford. Years ago I purchased a new second generation (second model year) Honda Civic Hybrid partly because of the high quality reputation Honda had. My experience was nothing but problems, a dealership finding ways to avoid covering issues under warranty and corporate customer service that was not helpful. I had to trade the vehicle away because the hybrid battery had failed and it was not drive able anymore. Honda wanted thousands to give me a questionable "refurbished" battery set. No thanks. My conclusion is that the issues with Mach-E are not surprising as this is new technology and Ford has not been making it long. I read that the latest Iphone has issues also. That's the risk you take to be the first on the block to have a new thing. From my time at Ford (I was laid off from ADAS software development in August 2022), I saw coworkers really trying to do quality work and I believe the factory workers do the same. People are doing their best but sometimes sh$$ happens.

Consumer Reports gets more reviews and recommendations wrong than they do right. This is just more evidence to that fact.

The Mach-e is the Chevy Volt 2.0. Nobody bought those either

Says more about being an established EV with brand recognition with charging systems for home and commercial locations more than anything else. Tesla has its fair share of recalls and err, "thermal events." I believe eventually reliability will get to where it needs to be and then it's all about price. It's early but it does matter what happens next. Proving yourself by fixing the issues (and maybe a name change - couldn't hurt) keeps Ford a serious player in the game. A full retreat is NOT a good idea! I think the second car - commuter market is where these things belong at least for now.

I still say 'Mach' was spelled wrong. Should've been 'Mock'.

When you make a food product, people will know and they will buy.

When you make a sh---y product, no one will buy it. Even with discounts.

Ford needs to go back to the basic.

I have seen 5 Mach E in Austin TX so far this year. I stopped by the Ford dealership in Georgetown TX to see what's on their lot lat weekend and spoke with the salesman as well. Nobody wants the Mach E and they are pileup on the lot. They can't sell them.

Tesla vehicles are everywhere in TX.

Ford is in trouble and they are telling the media lies. Sales are down big time. See how many EVs Ford can sell per month. They are lucky to even sell 50k units this year.
