There are actually four now with two being never in the office positions.

@4xmfo+1oUc9Fv4 I don't know what leadership you are referring to but there are tons of home based employees throughout the organization and they are not being reclassed. There are still 3 models of Work Forward, with the majority being hybrid.

Verizon has eliminated all work-from-home positions. You would be converted to a hybrid if hired as a work-from-home employee. At the end of 2023, they started asking hybrid and home-based employees to go in at least once a month. Within two months, they announced that all hybrid employees must go in 8 days a month. Within a month of this announcement, leadership announced that all home-based employees would be converted to hybrid, even if they were hired as home-based. We can assume by the end of 2024, hybrid-based positions will be removed entirely, and everyone will be required to go back into the office.

Is there any word when the Brooklyn NY call center will require there employees back to the office?

Craig mentioned that he had asked his leaders to come to the office more so others may have done the same. Some of the reasoning was if the leaders are there then workers will want to show up to be seen and heard solving all problems.

On and off topic. I noticed that every thread is a ton of down votes on their replies. This is definitely new and I wonder if it's fake folks, non Verizon, bots, or actual disgruntled employees.

Next, I saw the email and it said Band 4+. Definitely not clear, because higher numerically means 5, 6, 7, 8. Band 4+ in seniority means 1, 2, 3, 4. I can't see anyone requiring VPs to come into the office 3 times a week especially if they are always on the road. Seems pointless. Makes more sense the other way around but like someone else said (and who was down voted for no reason) we are TERRIBLE at communicating.

Does this apply to those employees that are classified as “home working”?

Bands 4+ means bands 4 through 8. I have confirmed with my Director and HR business partner. Every employee in VBG must go to the office 3 days a week starting Nov 1. If you don’t believe me just ask your management.

This was only for VP amd above bands. Rank and file are not part of that mandate but the writing on the wall is clearer today.

VBG sales at my hub has been RTO 2 days per week for months. We were just told today that everyone in VCG is going back to a hub 3 days starting Nov 1st. Will there be enough desks? Elon tried this and people were sitting on the floors

Hey, 2yyt+1oUc9Fv4, you do realize that they were offshoring WAY before any of this right? Like nearly a decade before. We're not gonna magically have great ideas because we're stuck in the office with the old folks burning up the toilets after lunch, coming in sick like some silly badge of honor, etc.

Unionizing sounds like a great idea.
If your brain fell out

I'm not sure who the anti union people are. We prefer you guys to unionize. Overnight, you guys become more complacent thinking the union will fix everything. When you realize they won't, you bother them, not us. Nearly all "HR issues" immediately become "union issues". That frees up my teams to focus on more important things. For field managers, 90% of things brought to their attention can be refered to union reps. Benefits we give automatically to all our employees from the top down are intentionally left out of the contracts. We tell union negotiators about these omissions and they accept them without contest! Furthermore, they tell you to ratify these contracts! And, you do!!! This saves us money, work and time. I head CA CWA agreed to dropping retiree benefits! I'm hoping we can get them to agree to that in our territories... that would be a great help to our bottom line. They just want us to agree to hire more union members. That's what lines their pockets. The union leadership are our buddies... negotiation time is a blast! It's 5% negotiating, 25% figuring out what we're going to tell everyone, 10% (just before we go out in public) preparing our statements and speeches, and 60% dirty jokes! We hang out together at the bar every night. It's one big party we can't have if you guys don't join up.

We should have never left the office for the scamdemic nor allowed the leadership to curtail our right to our own bodies. WFH has been an unending bad idea that has destroyed the esprit de corps of the company while it is being systematically dismantled and sent abroad.

Exactly! I've been screaming this to anyone who will listen for a long time. I would GLADLY pay for the protection of a union.

It’s time to unionize all office positions, right now the employees have an advantage over our greedy executive overlords. As a mid level Verizon manager that’s been working from home during the pandemic, I’m not one to easy give up my newfound lifestyle to be some type of corporate kuk for Hans…. Hold the line boys and don’t let them take your freedom!!!

Employees that WFH are stealing from the company in 100% of all cases. RTO is needed to bring the stock back. Glad to see it’s beginning.

Bigger story being missed, all band 4 and above must return 3x a week. This is NOT limited to VBG.

This is what Hans did with this RTO for VP and above: he's saying, I am counting on you to get us out of this mess, to drive sales, make million/billion dollar decisions every day, but I don't trust you to decide where to work. And that's really the heart of the problem. Rome is burning but he's focused on making a bunch of highly-qualified and highly-compsensated people miserable. So Hans - if they're not the right people, get rid of them. Otherwise, this isn't the way.

Goodbye, Kyle!!!!! Maybe Kyle should re-read his own email- embarrassed that he can't even put out a clear email, this is twice now that he fudged up a communication. Yikes, not a good look!

If you are not in VBG, why would you expect an email from Kyle about RTO? Smh. Take a chillpill and wait for Your leadership to send something out.

Seriously people think about it?!?!

Band 4 and higher means... Executives....

Unless there were different emails this whole thread is just another reminder of how bad at communications our company is.

He started the email with "I met with my band 4+ team" and ended with it making it clear it only applied to the band 4+ team. Did he meet with you? If no, I am gonna guess this does not apply.

I am a Sales Engineer in VBG. My band is 7. My whole team was told today we have to RTO on Nov 1 for 3 days a week. No exceptions for anyone in VBG is what we were told.

Need to read it again then, band 4 + is the other way around not up, but down. So if you are band 7 this doesn't apply, if your a VP band 3 then it applies. Not really sure why the director said that. Oh well we shall see. Not sure they will force all groups to eventually come in, especially with the major HCL move. Who knows, but that email was VERY poorly worded.

I am not the OP, but I did receive it. I did reread it. I did discuss it with my Director(my boss is on vacation). I did find out which office I have to report to. I did get verification that my badge is still active. i am expected to report to the office on November 1.

OP, please read that email very slowly and re read it until you realize it has nothing to do with RTO for us peons. I do admit it was a wasteful email!!

Is this being done because VZ can’t think for themselves and have to follow other companies?

by

Post ID: @ece+1oUc9Fv4

Is this being done to force attrition or because they honestly think bring more than sales and marketing back is actually going to do anything to the results? Get rid of Hans, find a decent sales plans to bring in customers, and get rid of all of the unnecessary layers of management. No one needs AD roles, adds another layer that does nothing or allows the director to do NOTHING.

Kyle is having his people come in because they don’t produce. He’s under the g-n to make the sales numbers for his org and they ain’t coming thru. So you’re being punished. GNT is status quo, we haven’t missed a beat being home. Sorry guys, get better numbers.

It is band 4 and up for RTO on Nov 1. Basically everyone. Band 1,2 and 3 are execs and do what they want to. Our VP just sent an email confirming we have to comply and we are band 7 in my team. If you cannot go to the office 3 days a week, you will not be working for VZ in 2024.

No thanks, I have an office, with a door that locks and a chair and desk riser that the company sent me, with privacy and no fear of stuff going "missing", with peace and quiet so I can concentrate. This makes zero sense, now I will take my sick time, no longer work above and beyond and take an extra long lunch every day that Kyle has mandated I return to a cr-ppy office that barely had clean running water.

Everyone take a breath and reread the email please. In a nutshell he is asking for the executives to come into the office three times a week. Band 5,6,7,8 etc will be evaluated at a later time

If VPs and above are required to RTO on Nov 1, you can bet its to set an example so they can get everyone to do it starting in January

Same here, I'm a band 7, nobody reporting to me. 88 miles to nearest office, and that's a Corp Wireless so I'm not even sure that counts...my boss has no answers so far. I haven't reported to an office since 2012, and 'officially' became a remote employee with all of the paperwork etc in 2015. I am required to report to the office on Wednesday 11/1/23.
