@1det+1oUsYbUK ... yes, that Mexico City PD center (aka Nuevo Dearborn) was starting to be built long before current UAW contract demands. "La escritura está en la pared."

Even if the UAW just ratified the previous contract for 4 more years, Ford's corporate greed would send 90% of a salaried jobs to LCCs.
Don't blame the UAW, they're smart to get everything they can while the getting is good. When EVs are 100% of all new cars, there will be 1/4 of the hourly labor required. So they need to try to get what they can now.
Lets be brutally honest. We could reduce salaried heads by 50% and productivity would increase. Too bad we can't distinguish between the deadwood and useful.
It's sad really as its not a matter of if, but "when" will the salaried rank and file be terminated in order to fund the UAW's negotiated
perks. We all know that $$$ has to come from somewhere - and it certainly won't be coming from reduced senior mgmt's salaries. Makes one wonder how deep the cuts will go before the BoD realizes they've cut off their nose to spite their face.
Ford management has made it quite clear that they will eliminate the high cost U.S. engineering workforce and move the work to India, China, Mexico and Brazil.
So the question is, WHEN will the involuntary terminations be?
@bsa+1oUsYbUK Salaried is exactly where they will offset the UAW labor costs. Stock buybacks and Executive compensation won't get touched, they'll actually increase most likely.
Don't call them layoffs. They FIRE salaried workers.
Good by bonuses!
It would be quite ironic if the hourly workers get their huge pay bumps offset by a freeze for the salaried workers.
Yes, layoffs after the strike, this makes sense for the budgets. How many people, how much in severance, how much for legalese issues, and on and on...
I trust Ford leadership will do what is fair and necessary.
Yes. I heard it from an LL5 who good buddies with an LL4 that during a meeting with the LL3s and LL2, that the LL1 is determined to get rid of 50% of the GSRs and then promote more mangers to chiefs. It will happen right before Thanksgiving.
No, there will never be another layoff again
All the money and costs that the UAW will get will need to come from somewhere. The easiest is to continue to transfer engineering and design to low cost countries. I hope the young people are saving as much money as they can and once they vest go on to better things.
Salaried folks will get their fair share...of layoffs.
There will probably be salary freezes.
No layoffs. Ford will fire you all.
we deserve better.
