I got riffed from the NOC and it was not based on performance. I got the gold medal for metrics a couple of months before the riff. My performance was great but I my I was unable to keep my mouth shut when I endured the evil machinations of some of the managers. I was told by my very nice supervisor that they have a list of people who are troublemakers or get in trouble and that's who goes when there's a riff.
They hired our replacements a few months later.

The last three people I saw riffed weren’t for poor performance they were stuck in the wrong department when things got shifted/consolidated somewhere else.

Before that it was someone who happened to be newest on a team probably one of the best but didn’t have any critical knowledge yet and in years prior we nearly always had an open headcount to cut.

@5yzk+1oWbV64p I have … many times. RIFs are no longer based on poor performance

Has anyone seen someone get RIF that didn’t deserve it?? Every single person I’ve seen over the years has been consistently poor performers.

Yep, it is people’s own fault for not using webinars and assistance but then again thats relevant for anyone at any place that offers assistance not just vz not anything new, shocking or insightful

But hoping for people to lose their jobs and end up Mc Ds is just in poor taste.

With that being said I hope you lose your job and end up McDs with all your skillz

With the tuition assistance and webinars VZ offers, it's your own fault if you've been here any length of time and haven't gotten any new skills.
I kind of hope you and people like you end up working nights and weekends at Mickey D's. It's survival of the fittest in progress. The weak, lazy and unintelligent fall by the wayside.

Last Thursday of October every year there are layoffs at Verizon.
off the books by December 31st.
Severance is very good.

It’s always been that way.
Anyone telling you otherwise is either from HR, a bot or just someone being an id--t.

Speaking with an employment lawyer is a waste of time and money. If the fickle finger of fate stabs you in the back, sign the paper, collect your cash, learn from the experience, and move on.

VZ pays significantly to lawyers and politicians to ensure that they can easily dispatch their "V-teamers" with a little advanced planning. They have been doing this for years and everyone that I know who went to a lawyer ended up with the same or less.

How you get your payback is being personally successful and taking as much business with you as possible, or sending them to competitors. This used to be a place to grow and make a career, but now it is backstab central, 'do unto others, then split!'

Last Thursday in October is a regular, yearly RIF day. If you are RIFd, talk to an employment lawyer, especially if you are over 40. Search Vz jobs regularly for your job. Chances are they’ll float a job req for your replacement under a peer. Apply for it. And Tell your employment lawyer.
