What’s sad is Beaumont used to be one of the best sites - really a people oriented place. It now su-ks - poor leadership, too much overreacting and not enough focus on safety. Wish I could turn the clock back 2 or even 5 years. It was a different world (in a better way).
Beaumont is an absolute hole. Worst XOM refinery location by far.
Not the greatest idea posting this as it is pretty obvious who is asking. Only a few of these positions there and even less staff changes in the works at this time....
OP, working for ExxonMobil is a bad decision no matter where you work. This company is dead for employees. Only investors love it. Employees hate it.
Read 48 Laws of Power. If you like what you read, you will love it there.
@wsf I guess if you have family there it’s a different story. If you want to be close to them and get paid decent money then putting up with toxicity at work may be worth it. It’s ultimately your value judgement to make.

Not really sure about the Refinery but the O&A chemical plant next door is terrible. Employees leaving at record numbers due to the culture that has existed there for years. The "We know what's best for you all" and the lack of Work life balance has ruined this place. Middle Managment is very heavy and toxic. The new Baton Rouge crew is slowly pulling this place down even further as the Product Solutions wave rolls in. So, in short due your research not all you read about the Beaumont refinery and chemical plant next door is fiction.
@fl. I did during the interview. The town is ok .. My family is in baytown, I would either communicate or get a place in Beaumont for the week days
I turned down a role in Beaumont. It was held against me at ranking for years afterwards. Even so, it was the right decision to keep myself out of that plant and my family out of that town and school system.
@OP Ever visited Beaumont? I suggest that you do before taking a job there.
Culture is in the gutter industry wide, so I wouldn’t decide where to work based on it.
