I sincerely doubt that the ELT is giving us these extra days out of the generosity of their shriveled little hearts,

My guess is that this is a plus in these Best Place To Work surveys.

I sincerely doubt that the ELT is giving us these extra days out of the generosity of their shriveled little hearts, but I do like that they've managed to give most of them in the early part of the year in months that don't have any holidays.

It's just a way to give us time off, that we don't accrue and therefor they don't have to pay out as part of the severance when they LR us. Notice how we get a day off for our birthday, but it's in informal deal that's not recorded in WorkDay just like Day's for Me. They also added an extra day in the year-end shutdown, probably because every one isn't using as much PTO due to WFH.

Having us return to work on a Thurs after 12 consecutive days off (minimum, assuming you don't take any PTO off before the year-end shutdown) is just a way to encourage us to take an extra 2 days off and take the Thurs & Fri off the first week of Jan and have 16 consecutive days off.

I haven't decided if I want to actually burn the additional PTO or just catch up on email and do nothing since I'm sure managers and other long-timers who get more than 20 days per year have even more PTO than I do that they have to burn. If I wasn't going to burn 80 hrs between Oct and Nov, I'd need to burn extra days in Dec.

Thank you Chuck, Fran and Kelly. I really appreciate the Me days.

Let me elaborate a little bit more. No company increased the number of PTO days during Corona. Neither did Cisco but Cisco introduced Me days right at the start of Corona as WFH was quite stressful for a lot of folks (including me).

I really appreciate Cisco continuing with the Me days although the main reason does not exist anymore. WFH is the new normal.
