While remote is nice and all, if people don’t come in person somewhat regularly, I don’t think a true culture and connection will be built. People already don’t turn on their cameras for video calls.

@1rvg+1oYTueXb - yes they are doing so because they received horrible 360 feedback. They are self-centered out of touch. They feel if they visit their teams, it will show they they care. But all you have to do is look at their LinkedIn messages they post. That will tell you the real story.
Our group has a planned upcoming event just before the Thanksgiving holiday - escape room..... Never done this before but should be fun. I keep asking myself, how many engineers does it take to break out of a locked room?

My organization has had a picnic and a bbq this past August and September. Our management has been out at plants meeting with their direct reports all year.

None the less, a hard but valuable lesson you're learning is that your coworkers/bosses are NOT your family nor your friends. The Office was a fictional TV show not based on reality.
If you're seeking social stimulation, do so on your own personal time by going out to gyms/bars/restaurants or get some pets.

Problem with team events are that departments don't have funds to help subsidize, and most people are not interested in having to shell out money and be wants to drag everyone to do.
It really depends on the manager. Mine says we will and then never does. I know a different team that has qrtly team events.
I don’t miss going in the office at all. I’m an introvert and dread the day they make us go back. The office is for extroverts, not that anyone ever considers that.
