Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Next dissolved?

I thought I saw a comment about this, but can’t find it. Did Stern really make this much needed correction?

I haven’t seen anything about it being dissolved, but it should be.

Stern claims to have a patent in “Security System and Alarm Activation Control” so maybe he will recognize canopy for the failure it is. Nobody is spending $300 plus $180 per year to guard their bike in a pickup bed.

@3gmg, you and the previous post highlight the stupidity of the delusional narcissists Ford seems to hire and promote. They ignore very expensive research. They make stupid decisions based on their egos. Ligthning F150 perfect example of stupidity. Core truck buyers made it clear, NO ELECTRIC TRUCK - infrastructure isn't ready. Mach E, stupid push button door release that no one understands, an instrument panel shape that becomes a heat sink overheating and shutting down the central interactive display, DSC that continues to sit as an eyesore and an empty " Factory ". Billions invested in Argo before understanding how will very expensive AVs produce profits. You get the idea. Look at Ford's Board of Directors, half are family and the rest are losers that have no record of generating profits or good decisions. So, layoffs? Yep, more are coming. Lawler has to eliminate the rest of the salaried pensioners and Doug Field needs to make room for more flunkies from Tesla, at least until all engineering and dev are shipped to Mexicao and India. LOL, yea very American. Detroit Free Press, Wall Street Journal, New York Times wouldnt that make great news?????!!!!!! How a so-called American company has offshored NA salaried jobs??????

@3twj doesn’t everyone spend $300 plus $15 per month to get camera coverage of their $500 bike in the bed of their truck? Who did the marketing study on this, Farley?

FLV as a consultant?! Laughable. Which PR troll writes that cr-p? is it Flake? or the other loser that left to work at Argo then gets rehired at FMC by his own wife! No " HALL " passes! LOLOLOL
FLV had nothing. What worse is FLV supported Canopy's garbage, HAHAHAH a camera for a truck's open pickup bed, who the heck would leave anything in an open bed? and as if a camera will prevent theft.
Reality is Nect and the hiring of FLV is as others have pointed out, another FAILURE of Ford's decision making. Another overpaid exec without a proven record of successful profit making sense.
Investors and competent talent are well aware. Those that were separated have all landed at competitors, tech companies and more. Ford makes that only JD Power's worst vehicles list but also multiple watchdog lists of most unethical companies. Nepotism and harassment are the norm at Ford. Diversity? Inclusion? Laughable. Other than a few " tokens " that conform, it's the old-boy network. Best example are the Design Studios. Arrogance and incompetence. Piakowski, Curic, Fulford create and support a culture not based on performance ( their vehicles have and continue to loose market share, ignoring valuable and expensive consumer research ) but rather keep the status quo. A Lo ( another Renault loser ) useless. UAW strike has delayed continued terminations, but more are coming. If your over 50 and pensioned your time is regretfully done, those hired in withing last few years, you're also targets for termination. Good luck to all and to he-l with Ford.

Re: previous post. I knew Ford Next will survive.

If FLV will not be kept full-time, Ford could still keep him involved as a consultant. It would be wise to have him continue to be involved with the projects he had in development.

It can’t b3 dissolved, or they would have immediately updated Stern’s executive profile, which still reads:

“Stern and his team are responsible for building out the business tied to Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system and productivity and safety/security services, including those from the Ford Pro Intelligence business; imagining and delivering exciting new high-value services; and leading services marketing, out-of-vehicle customer experiences and Ford Next.”

We will know how closely management reads this site if the Ford Next part disappears.

@2drc well, somehow canopy went from being a full security service for van and truck monitoring that would call police if someone entered your vehicle to being only “truck bed monitoring.” Who needs that? Nobody just leaves stuff that could be stolen in their truck bed.

And this is supposed to save Ford financially. Where is the accountability for Ford Next costing over $3 billion per year? That comes right off our bonus calculation.

FLV another of Ford's epic FAILS. Did nothing at Renault and even less at FMC. Where is the accountability????? FMC targets older employees for termination, hires overpaid losers without any proven results yet the press and media refuse to expose the incompetence. Next is finished, one good thing Stern has done. BTW, Canopy continues to be laughed at, finally bring a so-called " product " to market and no takers!

Going to a Ford Halloween party next weekend. I decided to go as FLV. Of course, I could not afford a real Hermes purse, but the butane torch, and Google Nest are the real thing.

@1teu

“ Ford Next was poised to develop technologies that would have taken competitors by storm.”

  1. “poised to develop technologies” after at least five years and over $10 Billion in cost, one would think they would be further along than “poised.”
  1. name one of these “ technologies that would have taken competitors by storm.” I’ll wait. Forever.

I still believe FLV was wronged and conspired against by the biased automotive media. Ford Next was poised to develop technologies that would have taken competitors by storm. Even Tesla. Now I'm not so sure.

Has there even been a formal announcement of his separation from the company? I haven't seen it.
