Exactly... ignore all the press these are just reports on the fillings that have to be made...

Intel is playing hide the ball on layoff announcements... It used to be more transparent.

It works against them because the employees are all left guessing if they will get fired... and within a quarter we get the earnings report with the total heads so any id--t can do math and figure out how many have been cut.

So far about 10,000 total heads have been cut. The company needs to fire about 20,000 more before it would even be in the same ballpark as the competition on head per revenue type of metric. All this talk about benchmarking and efficiency is just blathering... Intel is still far far off vs. the others. The only logical explanation is that the company must believe demand for PCs will come roaring back and IFS will take off... Andy Grove taught Pat that you invest your way out of a recession, but that was in a completely different ERA when Intel had a leadership position and the market wasn't commoditized like it is now.
