Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is there anybody else who is not planning to leave Cisco?

Anybody I talk to is looking for something else. Am I the only one who still sees a future here? What's going on?

Kiss up to a SVP and you'll be fine. It is who you know that make all the difference in Cisco. You have to be in the insider's club, or you're out!

Our checkins are hysterical. We have such a self-serving leadership it could be a on a comedy show. They executive club seems to have a great time among themselves, but are so clueless. This isn't leadership, it is self-promotion.

I sure hope to get an LR package. I'm just coasting along do-g what I need to for my customers and coworkers, do the required training and check-ins to stay out of the limelight, and work as little a possible. I'm using my extra time to study for a different career in investing. Cisco is well-know for layoffs, so I'm playing the game they want us to play and waiting for the package. It's not the best in the industry, but it isn't bad. In 5 years, Cisco will be 25% HR trying to control everyone and doing no networking or innovation.

If I hadn't gotten laid off a few years ago I'd still be at Cisco. Free money is too hard to pass up.

In my old role I had zero visibility and zero accountability. No stress whatsoever, no workplace shenanigans, and a front row ticket to the circus that is the corporate culture and ELT. That's why I still visit this site, I'm just chillin' with my popcorn like Michael Jackson and waiting to see what insanity will unfold next.

I'll never get a gig as good as that again, just stealing money from the company lol...

I’m leaving because my manager is lying constantly. I would try to stick it out if that weren’t the case. And when I say lying I mean saying he didn’t make the decisions he made during recorded meetings. He says to do one thing and then when it fails he says that he told us not to do it in the first place. I’m sick of it.

This board is overwhelmed by trolls forecasting doom, bragging about working 1 hour / day and spreading rumors. If you like what you do, like who you work with and are happy with your contributions and feel appreciated - why leave? That being said its always a good idea to have your skills updated along w/your resume because Cisco is just a company and is out for their own best interest not yours. If you wind up in the wrong group at the wrong time or Cisco has to "rebalance" staff you'll be ready. But until then you'll feel good about what you are doing and how you are being treated.
