Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Anyone start a new job while waiting for AT&T severance date?

Has anyone decided not to relocate and start working a second job while waiting for your last day on payroll and severance check from AT&T?

Why would anyone relocate for this lousy company? Just go through the motions. It’s only time before they close the doors on the whole operation.

looking for a new job is practically a full-time job in it of itself.

"Here's the thing though, your "team" could not give a flying flip about you."

Agreed, but I'm talking about my peers. They're good people.

"...because I'm trying not to leave my team in a bind after I leave..."

You are clearly a stand-up person.

Here's the thing though, your "team" could not give a flying flip about you. Your VP wouldn't P on you if you were on fire. Just keep that in mind.

I have a crew that installs sprinkler systems on the side and do e-bay while at work.
So YES, I have 2 side jobs and use the wages from T as beer money.

My husband’s severance was during the 60 day notice era year's ago. He found a job before his 60-day salary and lump sum severance payment payout and asked to be taken off payroll early. His organization refused and advised he will collect everything that is owed to him.

Yes - I know when my last date will be. I have vacation to do take some full days, and the rest half days, until then. Both my new employer and my current supervisor know. My work for T is off hours anyway (it's evening and weekend software releases, upgrades, and documentation). So effectively I'm getting paid for 2 jobs, or 1.5 if you consider that I'm doing half vacation days for T. Nothing shady or underhanded about my situation; T is still actually getting more than 20 hours a week because I'm trying not to leave my team in a bind after I leave.
