Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Friday 8-25-23

If GES has surplus in 2 days any ideas on how they do it? Any clues that this is really happening on this day, aside from rumors?

Some calls for some select personel will start tomorrow AM, and additional calls on Friday, if you receive a short notice invite for a 15-40 minute team call for some time after lunch the odds are you’re most likely safe ( for now) the surplus calls are one offs so have you manager, director/avps contact numbers in your mobile so you don’t have to guess every time your phone rings, good luck

Yes , global is getting hit this Friday . Traditionally you would get a call from your AVP first thing in the AM . No idea how they will do it this time around .

We haven’t heard from our CEO since the last earnings call where he had an internal only call in the afternoon and said we need a younger workforce. And the recorded version never got posted. Has anyone ever followed up to understand if he is ever going to address this statement?

To the posters saying to more or less just deal with it, the name of this site is the layoff.com.

And quit worrying about Climate Change SO much. It has all happened before. History/Weather repeats itself.

If GES does a layoff, expect a call from your immediate supervisor either informing of lay off or that you are safe.
This is the way it has been done for time immemorial.

Probably another lie perpetuated on this board. Just like the “fiber doomsday” that never happened. Just like the announcement of JVB departure. Also never happened. Take everything posted on here with a grain of salt so you can keep your sanity.

I feel for folks on this board that are petrified about the next layoff. Living this way is simply not worth it. If your on edge now, you’ll be on edge every 60 days for the foreseeable future. Again, no way to spend your career. You have two options. Ignore the hate about T and the environment everyone is working in and if you get laid off, oh well it was good while it lasted. Or simply plan for your exit and be proactive, manage your own career don’t let T do it for you. But ignoring all the obvious signs of a very ill company is not a wise choice.
