Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Remember when?

PSO talked grandiose about Intel being a 100B revenue company and we were the center of the technology universe? Ah weren’t those the days!

Than we passed on Apple, missed on Apple, got BK, Bob and Pat

Missed on everything, a long serious of layoffs and reorganization, where are we now?

Now missed AI, getting @ss handed to us by AMd, Apple, Nvidia and TSMC, all worth more and have far better management, real strategy

Missed mobile, missed AI total FUBAR

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/21/technology/nvidia-ai-chips-gpu.html
“Nvidia's profit margins and cash flow conversion are so high that by the end of next year, the cash on its balance sheet will be substantial enough to equal half of Intel's current market valuation.”

AMD seems to be doing just fine with the Intel “competition”, such as it is.

The tipping point has been reached and AMD will clean sweep Intel in servers in the coming cycle. Client is up next.

The market cap of AMD is bigger than Intel now and Intel has to face a much stronger AMD with a giant war chest and the TSMC behemoth driving AMD’s technology lead.

Because of anti-trust, AMD wouldn't be able to buy Intel eve if they wanted to. Instead, Intel should offer itself up to Nvidia, to augment their current offerings with x86. Based on its performance, their management there should be capable of cleaning up Intel's Augean stables and getting some value out of it.

All true op. And the thing is, ask any of the “bleed blue” type Intel veterans and they will have all sorts of ready made excuses trying to explain away these mega scroo ups! Doomed to continue scrooong up because of blind and lazy subservient belief

Why would AMD want Intel?
LOL!

That’s not a value add - it’s a value subtraction.

Stage 4 - AMD buys Intel for pennies on the dollar.

who are the major investors in Intel
they probably can keep Intel afloat for a while even if it is doing poorly

When all efforts have failed the and operating profits turned to losses, Intel has entered state 1 of throwing in the towel.

Stage 1. Intel shutters all businesses except core processors & chipsets. Bets farm on IFS.
Stage 2. This won't be enough, still bleeding cash Intel will be forced to cut heads by 25%
Stage 3. When IFS fails to gain traction, even headcounts in core business won't be sufficient. Bond rating will fall. Investors will get tired of the empty promises. At that point the BOD will have to give up and bring in a new CEO.

Enjoy the ride.
