Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Mid- year review ?

So, I received my mid-year review. I was ranked below mid-point. What does that mean? Can I recover? My morale is already low.

Happened to me when I was at the gm tech ctr. Performed all duties to a satisfactory level with verbal confirmations from leadership, showed up to work everyday on time (unlike some of my colleagues), never crashed a tarus mill during my time there (unlike some of my colleagues), always took advice and mentorship seriously, and on my 90 review (which popped up out of nowhere 6 months into me working there), it stated that I performed below average, took instructions poorly and was not proficient in running the cnc mill (although I completed every project on time and had prior operating and programing experience smh), and I was literally cut the following week. Trust me, it doesn't matter how well you do as an employee. If a company wants you gone, they will make it happen. Age, race, seniority, doesn't matter. Sigh. Best of luck to you. It ended up working out for me in the end.

Were you given clear communication about the reason you were below average? Do you understand what you need to do to resolve this going forward? If not you should request those details. It’s hard to know if you’re being set up for layoff. In the last few layoffs many of those let go were not below average on their performance reviews.

Sorry to say it, but you are being setup for the next round of layoffs. If you have enough years to make the severance payout worth waiting for stick it out and make Ford pay. If you are under 5 years, you might want to be proactive and go get another job. No one in the U.S. has a future at Ford, just a job.

It is a way to cut without being sued.

Means start looking for another job as they might fire you for performance rather than laying you off. Fired for performance, no severance.

This is the Hunger Games. I have seen stellar employees work 60+ hours a week for 20 years constantly and sacrifice everything in their lives for their jobs. Suddenly, out of the blue, they receive a below average on their performance review for no reason other than the company wanted them gone. You, unfortunately have been marked for termination. Get your resume ready (it should always be ready to post reviewing it every 6 months) and start looking for something better than the cesspool that Ford has become.

Good luck!

We're 3/4 through the year already and chances are that hiring will slow down with a strike vote looming and the top-dogs trying to figure out what to do with their EV mess of vehicles sitting on the lots and not selling.

Your next years profit sharing will already be cut significantly to go to folks above-target, you will get a lower pay raise if any at all and you are now on the targeted list. These are the hard facts, unfortunately.

If I was in your shoes, I would update my resume and would hit the ground hard early next year to get out. This years hiring timeframe is already quickly approaching, however there are still jobs out there. Get a list of companies to apply to, contract houses and start touching base with all your connections. Start saving for a rainy day.
On the good note, everyone I know who was cut in the last round has found a job and is working - might be at the suppliers, but who cares. You have a paycheck still coming in, so no emergency on your hands. Also make certain you improve and ask you boss directly all the time to make certain you are doing what you need to do.

There is no benefits offered here holding anyone back, this is just a paycheck received for labor you performed.

With forced rankings and all the huge engineering centers built in foreign countries, these jobs are all moving in due time - get ahead of the pack.
