Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

"Being sick is not an excuse to work from home"

My Orgs level 4 said that at an all-hands meeting yesterday (while he was clearly working remotely). "Being sick is not an excuse to work from home". We must use PTO time if we are to miss an in-office day for being sick. Well, that's not going to happen, The company is already taking two more hours a day away from my family with my commute, and you now aren't going to take precious PTO days away too.

So I guess, we'll all be coming in sick, making the offices a petri dish, good luck everyone!

“My Director got upset when I was in the Hospital in the ICU with my Mother the day before she died.”

First of all, my condolences for your loss. Secondly, that cold blooded, Machiavellian swine Director has the makings of an officer level (here at toxic T). May he/she receive the same callousness back (x10).

They will still lay you off if you have FMLA. As soon as you get back. I have seen it happen. They tell you that you have unlimited sick time that you can use for even physicals, but they don’t say it goes against your attendance until they want to lay some folks off. Seems illegal, but I have seen it firsthand.

I'm sorry your leadership gave you a hard time. In the weeks while my husband was dying and my 3 bereavement days after I was allowed to wfh half days (precovid) as long as my 60 hours of work got done.

Our director said he would rather see us WFH vs using a sick day. That was just passed into us a few days ago.

If I have a fever and a slight cough, I can work from home efficiently. If I have a fever and a slight cough, I could be getting everyone else sick at the office. There is a HUGE Difference!”

Wear a mask Since they prevent Covid they’ll certainly prevent a cold.

Read the sick day policy, very gracious. It includes doctor visits. Our AVP said not to code sick time just stay home and work because they are measured on sick days 🤣

With this edict they have no ground for code of conduct dismissals unless egregious

Go to your doctor and get FMLA. Instead of working from home let them pay you sick time and pay the doctors visit. Play by their rules. You are legally entitled to FMLA.

The "unlimited days off" apply only to the DEI candidates.

We only have to be in the office three days a week. If I was sick why would I not make that one of my two wfh days. How would they even know?

Folks just need to stop being d-mb. I totally get the point. If you have a cold which is contagious then it is best to stay at home and not pass it along to hundreds of people in office. When I was in office 5 days a week, I've picked up plenty colds from the people sitting around me. It's annoying. A cold is not serious enough to take a sick day but it surely is serious enough for someone to work at HOME and stop the spread.

"There is unlimited sick and vacation at AT&T."

Molly, you in danger girl! The rest of your coworkers have noticed your propensity to be gone more often than they are and have notified your 3rd level.

Correct being “sick” is not a reason to work from home. Be IN office the required days. If you are sick by all means code your time and be off work.

**Caution- only approved disability and FMLA are “protected “ days.

Your “sick” days can be measured and used against you in a surplus environment.

There is unlimited sick and vacation at AT&T. Infor is just the tool to enter your days off, nothing preventing you from taking more. On average l, I take about 35-40 days of vacation per year when my allocation is only 28 days. Not hard to milk it folks.

Management has unlimited sick days so I don’t really see what the problem is. Why would you wanna work from home when you’re sick Vs taking a sick day. Obviously if you’re too sick to come to the office then you’re too sick to work so just take a fu----g sick day and be done with it.

I hate RTO as much as the next person, and I’m impacted by this for relocation this is really just a stupid thing to be complaining about when you have unlimited sick days to use.

STOP using need more time with family as an excuse not to RTO. Family has to come 2nd. Tell us how your family with like it when you're unemployed. Wake up

Ok fair enough. So instead of me suffering at home when I’m sick, I’ll just not work, clock as sick in moose. Works for me.

Really we all need to get back to taking time off when we are sick. Enough with this working through everything.

I sneeze when I am home. Why any different when I am at work. Stop the whining and just work when you RTO. You are just trying to develop a reason not to go back to work like you did three years ago.

Management is sick. They are so incompetent and it all starts with Stankey. He screwed up his M&A position- and now he is CEO with no ideas. He ran off HBO, hired his buddy who screwed up Australia’s internet, and has been less than candid on THE LEAD CABLE issue. He even reneged of pulling a lead pipe he agreed to from a huge lake. The guy is the all time winner of The Peter Principle award. Hall of Famer.

No matter where I sit, im always near someone coughing up a lunch or someone sneezing every 5 minutes, blaming allergies. Dude, we are in an AC building in the heart of the city; the pollen count is so low in here.

Ha, Unlimited six days! i live in a state where I pay a tax/surcharge every paycheck for sick days, and once I use the allotted ill days that tax pays for, I have to use PTO or the sick day is unpaid.
