Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

My theory:

1. Pat studied under ASG who believed you invest your way out of a downturn.
2. Pat thinks PC demand will return quickly.
3. Pat cares about the workers and doesn't want anyone to lose their job.
4. Pat may be underestimating just how hard it is to compete in IFS vs TSMC.
5. Pat has never focused on cost controls and probably doesn't have true sense of how much extra cost intc has compared to tsmc

Why is it taking so long to cut the additional 20,000 heads?

The only way you can see your way clear to not cutting heads is to assume the PC business recovers, margins improve and IFS ramps like a SpaceX rocket...

It just seems like the executive team is asleep at the wheel here. We have to assume they are smarter then the rest of us... so, what do they know that we don't?

OP. your $55 Bill for 2023 is a bit high..
Don't be surprised if we barely pass $50B,
and will take strong Q3+Q4 and some CFO magic pixie dust to make it.

The trend appears to be back-to-back years of 20% revenue decline.

The revenue picture does look pretty bleak.

On a positive note, we are leading the way in DEI hires and solar panels in the JF parking lot.

The rest of the industry won't wait for Intel to execute 5-nodes in 4-years, Intel will still be light years behind the competition and customers will have moved on.

4-years Intel time = 8-years industry time.

5 nodes in 4 years!!! We are executing have no fear we have been delivered to the promised land
