Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AFO tech thoughts

Seeing work from home taken away from office folks.

It’s an attack on family, women. Now those families, women, will have to relocate and find child care. Take time away from family to get presentable professionally dressed every day.

So yeah the office folks who now have to report in have every right to be pi---d. It’s an attack on families, women, forces them to pay through the nose for child care.

AT&T hates families and its workers. No one should be surprised.

Not sure how this post got so many upvotes… working from the office is not an ‘attack’ on anyone. That’s ridiculous. Yes I wfh, and I did before Covid. Yes, I have to rto on Tuesday, and no- I’m not looking forward to it.
I think the way they are going about it is unnecessarily cold, I think they are not prepared for everyone at the offices, and I think the ‘decision maker’ is not good at planning or forethought.

Hopefully this OP is not a man being angry ‘for a woman’ … because I am a woman in IT and I don’t agree with them on this point, it’s actually embarrassing to hear those kind of silly accusations.

Even when I worked from home, I had daycare for my children. There is no way I could have been on conference calls and doing work and take care a baby/toddler. Unless your kids are old enough to take care of themselves, you should not be taking care of them while you are supposed to be working. I get during COVID that’s what we had to do, but as soon as everything opened up again, that should have stopped.

Why just women? Misogynistic? I did the morning routine with my kids for 16 years. Wife had to be at work at 6.

Oh Boo Hoo Hoo...

Listened to the WFH crowd brag since covid how awesome it was and how little work they actually had to do.

Catching up on shows and playing video games all day.

Then, yall started buying houses out in the country and pricing me out of my own neighborhood...because "cost of living was so affordable."

Meanwhile, my chump a-s was dealing with customers face to face and sweating in attics. And getting priced out of my own neighborhood.

So Boo Hoo, get your lazy as--s back in the office and back to work.

LMFAO. T is full of children. You are not owed the ability to WFH. Grow up and get out of your parent’s basement.

“ This post must be sarcasm, there is no way this post is from a grown adult ….”

Spoken like someone who either doesn’t have a family or isn’t involved with their family.

Men have families too. Some of us are actually engaged with our families and losing time with them because of this policy too.

Now a days it takes men as long to get ready as women. With all the manscaping, blow drying hair, hair products, picking out an outfit, changing, picking out another one, same with shoes, making bed, then fixing lunch, taking out trash, taking the dogs for a walk, cage them, driving two hours to work, finding a parking space, walk to the building, get to a space, logging in, go get breakfast, go back to PC, eat while starting work. Whew.

10 years ago were you working from home? Did you have childcare? The company is not responsible for your childcare. It impacts your husband as well. It has nothing with targeting women. You are just searching for someone to blame for your situation.

Childcare is $4500 a month and rising due to inflation. If you want a lower cost you get what you paid for.
