Yes, there was a Redesign, but there was NOTHING "Smart" about it!
The number of employees still under the pension plan is getting smaller and smaller. Pensions are a non-issue except for the very few still employed by Ford who are eligible to collect.
As a consequence of the actions of a stupid incompetent fool and souless pig, Hackett and Robinson, Ford " Smart Redesign " targeted pensioned employees with over 20 years of service, the company takes the tops spots in recalls and most unethical company.
Boston Consulting was paid a substantial amount to generate a list of these employees, the first round sued and won, now the targets include a range of ages as a smokescreen.
Farley and the Ford's BoD continue to fail in providing any roadmap for the company's profitability. Investors and shareholders are aware. Lawler continues to be visibly jittery, knowing more layoffs, SIRPs, whatever are coming as well as the offshoring of salaried positions. Shameful. Hard to say exactly when next round of terminations will happen, my guess is September. Good luck to all.
Ford is also firing recent hires over 50 who do NOT have pensions so they can get rid of those who do.

Ford wants anyone 40-50+ years old fired. BUT what there doing is firing just enough people under 40 years old to make it look nice and legal. See goverment we also fired some younger people also.
“Diversity” means “anyone but the white guy”, and Ford is aiming for 100% diversity in its salaried ranks.
Ford will let go those that are not black. They call it diversity. This is a bunch of discrimination against none black.

I didn’t have a pension, but I’m over 50. I think I got axed so they could get rid of someone over 50 that DID have a pension.
