Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Failures

It is rediculous that my gm tells us we are the only ones failing. I get on this site and everyone has the same issues. Guess what? We were the ONLY ONES that couldn’t get the club ready to open by 7 AM, when that was the expectation. So, the entire company changed to an 8 AM opening, because our one little club in Florida couldn’t pull it off!

These numbskulls at home office will never understand that we can’t get it done by 8am. Stop comparing us to Costco if they won’t change our opening hours to 10am. They want 150-200 pallets done in 4 hours! Good luck with that model. We end up bringing partials to the back room and wasting more time everyday.

Your GM is either a liar or has his head in the sand.

It's not just the high volume clubs that need a 3rd shift, the lower volume clubs are at the same standards and expectations, just with fewer associates.

They got rid of 3rd shift in beginning of 2019. It was 930pm-6am. It worked great! Each area had one person that worked it every night. By the time everyone left at 6am every area was stocked full, swept clean, and was ready for open. Since they got rid of that shift, everything has gone down. Mixed freight lost in the steel, product sitting in the steel til it's on sale, dropping product all day cause it's not out, etc.

They need a fully staffed 3rd shift if the expectation is to be ready to open at 8 am. Remember just before the pandemic the company changed the opening hours to late? And then backed down and opened at 7 and then to 8. The earlier we open the more a 3rd shift is needed. Especially high volume clubs.

We definitely are not ready either! Being short staffed everyday and depending on who is closing manager at night we have to do their job to but of course it all falls back on the opening merchandise team. 7:55 we are still taking trash to the back and once store opens we are still working pallets so no it’s not just your store!
