Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Laid off after outperforming ..What a Joke!

My colleague, the top performer on our sales team, was unexpectedly let go. Despite relocating at their request and exceeding his YTD targets, they still released him. I'm frustrated on his behalf. Perhaps it's a blessing in disguise given his youth. Now I understand...

"It's so weird how everyone who leaves is this "amazing employee" yet the company does better without them. "

Better? In what measurable way is T better today than last week. Or last month. Or 2020?

T's been on a very steady, unstoppable, and increasing decline since at least 2010 mainly due to three colossal blunders: The failed T-Mobile merger, the DTV merger, and the Time-Warner merger. The results of which are debt of more than $100B, a stock that is almost bottomed out, approximately 100,000 jobs lost (since 2010), a workforce with lower morale than the Russian army, and a distant third place in the mobile phone competition.

The common denominator? Stink.

So please. you ignorant dope, explain how T is doing better as a result of all these layoffs?

Other than the resident troll(s), everyone knows they are using age discrimination to make HR and relocation decisions. Came right from the top of the dung heap.

How are people saying this guy is young?

He isn’t old in general life, but he is considered older when it comes to employment discussions.

40+ falls under age discrimination laws, so based on that 40+ isn’t “young” for employment purposes.

(His LinkedIn says he went college in 1996, so I assume he is 40+)

“ Inskeep is still showing in Webphone. But I agree, the guy was a complete a hole.”

He was given the two week surplus notification on Friday. He’s out in 2 weeks.

“On Friday Mr. 5g Jason Inskeep was released and he was an avp and young so I do believe the OP.”

Oh poor Inskeep. Maybe he should have been a little nicer.

Cautionary tale for all those considering uprooting their lives for T.

OP - rough in the short term, but like you said a blessing in disguise.

Since Stankey’s big reveal on their age discrimination plan, now HR has to layoff some youngsters to make it appear they aren’t targeting senior employees.

It’s been crickets since he said that and never posted.

OP here. To those insinuating, I'd fabricate stories on my colleague.. Just sharing what I've seen. He was requested to move to that specific area last year, not the main hub. He will move on to better things.

I believe you. I've seen it before. I was asked to move for this company at least twice before this year, and every time declined, because I know exactly how this can play out. No one in their right mind will relocate for this job. If a company truly needs you in a specific locatiom, they will pay to bring you there.

OP here- It's quite the spectacle seeing folks spend their weekend hours trash-talking on this forum. Probably just another keyboard warrior living the incel dream.

OP-

Sorry to hear about your colleague.
Sadly, the people getting cut these days (and has been for awhile) MANY are high end/top performers.

In the end, it doesn’t matter what your rating is whether you are a top performer or not. Instead, it’s about meeting a $$ amount and cutting headcount (period).

Doubt it. Your buddy wasn’t that good. Take notes and try harder. Stop acting like a victim.

If you weren’t already in a hub, young and lower on the pay sale, your name was already on the list to go. Top performers are paid slightly higher. Your peer was targeted before the relocation. It was stupid to move.
