Sadly it was a Covid fest. Not surprised if all of marketing is not infected from the Sunday “celebration”

Fair or not, but the cost of IMPACT will more than offset by the revenue gain from the motivated Sales team. It's a revenue, growth and profit strategy for the company directly impacting sales. Underneath all of the training, fun and entertainment, it is more about getting more from the Sales team.

What is the revenue impact of Cisco spending 30-50M on an event to motivate the BU? Unfortunately, that is how things work. Cisco will not absorb the expense if it does not have an impact.

"Impact makes me sick! We get laid off, struggling to pay a mortgage, we’re forgotten, and Cisco has a big party!"

Sound like it made a lot of people sick.

Impact, GSX, whatever it is called.....always bothered me when I worked at Cisco. I worked in many different areas of Cisco (Engineering, Prod Mgmt, Bus Dev, Sales support, Prog Mgmt, etc) but never went to the "parties". And that's exactly what they are. It's truly amazing what is hidden in expense reports at these parties. Big $$$$$. The main reason it bothered me is that there were tons of hard working engineers that would love a cool multi-day party, with energetic training sessions inbetween. But NO.........Cisco only does that for sales. I know without sales, you have nothing.....but the same goes for engineering.

I know people working retail as individual contributors with modest homes and families so unless you're a janitor or bought three ex-wives homes you shouldn't be so hand to mouth.

Everyone I've known who got laid off had new employment for more money doing more modern work long before their package ran out so while extremely stressful they're better off outside Cisco. Be frugal, invest wisely and keep your skills and your professional network in top form and there is a very high probability you'll do well, and that includes the over 60 set.

Engineering people should always remember that it doesn’t matter how great your product/solution is, the product/solution has got to be bought by someone. Cisco stuff, unlike Apple and others, does not sell itself. People have to be taught and conditioned in how to sell it and how to position it to fix customer pain points. Hence events like Impact.

We need to celebrate the real workers at the Cisco who makes us money for to sell customers- ENGINEERING!

You mean the engineers from the acquisitions that Cisco made it's money on and who have vested and gone back to other startups?

Why does sales peoples go to big party for celebration in the Las Vegas!!!! It’s waste of money on d-mb sales people!! Engineering needs such events so inspire more innovations and revenue generation. We need to celebrate the real workers at the Cisco who makes us money for to sell customers- ENGINEERING! Sellers only like to lie and spend opex drinking!

I'm at Impact and as exciting as it is, it is heartbreaking to not see some of my friends this year that were laid off six months ago. We said we were not laying off people in the growing areas of the business, but we did! I can't believe what I am told sometimes. I don't know how some of these folks on stage live with themselves.

I like Chucking’s green jacket and Jeff’s favorite blue checkered jacket. The technology lady dressed in black was delicious.
