Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Any cuts are likely to be AFTER UAW strike passes

They need us to break the picket lines, run the parts depots etc. THEN they can resume their regularly scheduled programming.

Listen I don't know why everyone acts like they are not going to be let go. Look at the spending by the company since 1995. Look at which PD centers were built or updated vs Dearborn.
I personally think JF is in way over his head. BF clueless only qualification he has is the last name. DF a professional job mover.
For years during the townhalls someone would always ask why do we have a pd center in a country we do not make money. Senior management would always answer "WELL THOSE PEOPLE KNOW THAT MARKET". So we know that was BS. The US is the only consistent money maker for the company but we outsource jobs to Brazil /Mexico/ & India. BF you better pray that works! Your legacy is not looking very good right now.
06 Fired as CEO by your own family
17 Installs a furniture guy (Art Van) as CEO..
18 Purchase train station in a very poor area. over $3/4bn invested already and keeps going up.
So when I hear JF or some other senior management state BF says this is the best management team I start laughing and shake my head.
A king is not born he is made BF. JF we still wander what have you actually accomplished since you hired in? All I have seen was we lost market share gave numerous segments to our competition. F-Series still makes 90% of our profits. So new wow product from you has not produced despite what you proclaim to be "CAR GUY".
DF. Well coming up on 24 months since you hired in probably see you leave inside on 24months with your track record.

The guidance for the mid year review which doesn't really matter as it's not tied to merit or bonus was to put people at meeting expectations. Then at year end, if they're still meeting expectations, their reviews are flat (rather than declining). Because of all the bullsh-t last year around the less than 95 greater than 105, those that were bitten are being more cautious this time round.

Wouldn’t a mass firing of salaried employees BEFORE the UAW strike be a good bargaining chip?

Sometime before the end of the 3rd quarter, which ends in September.

That’s the theory.

They are doing this mid year review stuff now and I’ve heard that many more people will have to be marked as below achievers or below target or whatever they call it now. I’m assuming that’s a longer game to target cuts at a future time. I wondered if they would do another cut as part of the union negotiations but I think they need the remnants of us that used to know how to deliver a program to try to keep the train on the track until newer people are trained more and the union stuff is settled… but always be ready, I’ve lost count of how many rounds of cuts I’ve seen at Ford. Usually though the free press lets us know before management - ha ha

It will likely depend on how generous the new UAW contract is. The more the UAW gets, the more salaried cuts will be required to make up the difference.

I've seen a large number of new hires. My take is that there will be layoffs after the newbies get trained. Probably within the next year.

My take... No cuts if we see large number of retirement in November.
