The hits keep coming: Explorer Recall

Small number but still another recall and punch to Ford’s gut.

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023 Ford Explorer SUVs with the 2.3L EcoBoost due to an issue with the turbocharger oil supply line.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the engine may have a torn or cut turbocharger oil supply line O-ring.

The hazards: a torn or cut turbocharger oil supply line O-ring could allow oil to escape and contact a hot engine, increasing the risk of an under-hood fire and injury.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: turbocharger oil supply line.

Affected vehicles: 2023 Ford Explorer SUVs built at the Chicago Assembly plant between July 25th, 2023 and was taken out of production on August 3rd, 2023.

The fix: dealers will replace the turbocharger oil supply line.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin the week of September 11th, 2023. The Ford reference number for this recall is 23S50.

Outsider looking in here...... (I'm at the lower case car co.) How are the Mavericks? I really like it. We don't have anything like it in our product lines.

@lrm+1olkk6mo Employees don't make decisions. Even if a company has good employees, providing good technical solutions, managers can still sc--w up the final product. Of course, after so many rounds of layoffs lately, no good employee is left at Ford. Even the good ones are quiet quitting.

I think I have a solution to these recalls....schedule more meetings.

Surely more meetings to track these issues does solve them? Or at minimum it makes suppliers and employees hate Ford even more?

If Ford has good employees then why are the cars so bad. Make it make sense.

Instead Ford has targeted experienced, qualified, and tenured employees to be SIRP’d.

Why would anyone own or drive a Ford?

Ford makes bad cars because Ford has bad employees. The best car companies have the best employees.

At some point you would think that the monied interest in Ford would say, “Enough! Get some experienced people working for the company that can solve all these problems!”
