Look, the reality is MW is the center of this. He has moved from being authentic and answering genuine questions from the workforce to becoming overly scripted in Q&A. Don’t blame those calling in for the Q&A, look to the top……..the top has no problem feeding those who want to repeat the feeding each townhall (again, blame the feeder, not the goldfish)……..

Yeah, that DN is a regular Johnny Carson, right?

So funny, when I read the post I immediately thought of DN. Lol

Not only does he always ask a question but he’s usually well positioned to maximize time on camera. That Business Casual session he was practically on RM’s lap.

BTW I have nothing against the guy, good on him for getting up there.

The Covington office would force all employees into the town hall. The supervisors would walk the floors like a fire warden and tell people it’s time for the town hall. Lol

@alue, Sure, be as cool as you want to be in your next job, Obviously you’re no longer a Chevron employee because you’re not cool and obsess over mundane things like town hall meetings. 🤣

I don’t attend any town hall anymore. I guess it’s been about 10 years ago that I last went to one. It’s a plain waste of time. I just ask someone that I know who decided to attend the event (for the free cookies or soft drinks) to text me the CIP corporate factor. That’s all I want to get out of those silly annual dog and pony shows.

I thought Moon Township was dead. Didn’t they sell the Kmart at a loss?

@8hsi, yes, that's true, but it can't happen in MW's/RM's fantasy world. There are no 'spontaneous' questions, all are either scripted or selected and sanitized ahead of time. Even the audience is hand-picked to be 'diverse' and compliant, sitting there with their hands folded and heads nodding like a car bobble-head. All 'questions' (really cues) are asked by hand-picked high-pots or diversity types. And there will be a 'question' from a West African office, and a 'question' from a SE Asian office, maybe one from Kazakhstan if they can get the technology to work. No need anymore for Moon Township or Aberdeen 'questions'.

Ask the “wrong” question in a town hall and your name gets blacklisted by HR. Within two years or less, you will be pink slipped out of the company. This is almost guaranteed.

I haven't watched or listened to a townhall in 15 years. It doesn't sound like I've missed much.

Townhalls have always been nothing but softball-lob questions asked by hand-picked high-pots and diversity tokens, but under MW there's no information at all, the only reason to go/watch is to see how stupid the "serious" questions (and the people who ask them) look. If you want to know everything wrong with Chevron, just watch a Townhall!

Everybody getting on DN but in reality, who cares? Let him do his thing and you do yours.

OP here. DN is the one I was referring to. He makes a big deal out himself on workday and in the town halls, but he doesn’t seem to have any special capabilities or deliver on anything useful to the company. Did he call in this evening to get the double kiss up points?

@ucb showing my age here. Before teleconferences there would occasionally be in person townhalls. The CEO (KD) was in Richmond when a guy asked “how do you expect to be ‘better than the best’ if you goal is to pay average wages”. It got very quiet and KD said “what is your name?” I was always curious how it went for that guy.

Every town hall in history has been this way, back to the Stone Age. Nobody has a legitimate question - they simply wish to be recognized as the person asking a question.
