Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Design of our EVs doesn't make sense

Do we even do wind tunnel testing anymore? Lightning and Mach-e both have the flattest, bluntest fronts on them. Get more of a wedge and you'll increase range for sure. Not that it will be enough to make these ticking time bo--s sought after by the car buying public!

Since the Mach E is not a real Mustang, it wouldn't surprise me if it had a high drag queen coefficient.

If boomers like the old pigs in the f family design, its goung to be like that

Ford has totally given in to the woke culture. Almost all promotions are now based on attributes other than knowledge and skills and real performance. Jack Nasser started this cr-p and Farley is going to finish it.

This is not going to get better.

Did you factor politics into the design?

@yft
There's no need to pick on the person's speech difficulties. Critique their design competence all you want. BTW, the average IQ of a stutterer is 14 points above the average.

nor do you understand the many regulations at play <==

What regulations dictated Ford to have higher cdA while Tesla/MB/etc do not need to meet? If all OEMs meet the same regulations, why is Ford's design @ 0.3, not 0.2?

The real answer is that all high range BEV are sedans. Ford is no longer in the sedan market. You can work 48hr a day to improve the crossover design but nothing can change. Physics is physics.

Good design at Ford?! Laughable. Look at the so-called Design Directors, one was responsible for one of the worst vehicles in history, Pontiac Aztek, after getting booted from GM, gets booted from Hyundia and Mercedes, another can not contruct a sentence let alone make good aesthetic decisions and another copies the worst of Tesla and Nissan and stutters like an id--t. Why haven't the Design Studios been hit by layoffs??????Eliminate the majority of LL3/4/5s and maybe some good decisions will happen. Also, terminate the Lincoln Director and his Chiefs ASAP, worst copies of Teslas. Disgraceful.

I thought of you had auto pedestrian braking it got around the pedestrian crash regulation stuff.

The Mach E has very good drag coefficient <==

From the abc coef filed with epa, I cannot see why drag coef alone matters. U should have posted based on cdA. Even if only cd is used, 0.2 is a new standard now. Is Mach-e's 0.3 near 0.2 ? Is drag 50% higher a very good ?

Mach-e highway kwh/100 miles is un-competitive if you view sedans as the competitors.

A wedge? You definitely don't have an aero background if that is your proposal nor do you understand the many regulations at play that dictate the shape of vehicles.

In terms of drag coefficient for the most aerodynamic cars:

Lightyear 0 ranks #1 with 0.175

Tesla Model S ranks at #17 with 0.208
Tesla Model 3 ranks at #32 with 0.23

Mach-E ranks at #200 with a drag coefficient of 0.29

F-150 Lightning ranks #255 with drag coefficient of 0.56 (worst drag coefficient of any EV?)

Yes, we do pretty extensive aero testing. The Mach E has very good drag coefficient

Look up pedestrian crash regulations.
