RTO is hard when the India teams schedule 7:30 / 8:00 am meetings every day.

My team are back to the office 48/156 hours a month (shift role). Management need to know if you won’t be coming into the office.

2mgp+1ooM75vB : you are assuming people in business are really working even at office.
Just because someone produces slides or a table or builds a product does not mean he is working.
In Business it is acceptable , only if the product makes money. Sadly that is not going to happen because at the top EMC guys have been trying to " look busy while doing nothing".
Wait for wfr next year same time. I suspect we will be seeing some "pretend work" starting Jan in the fancy teams.

as a former Dell employee who still holds a few thousands shares of vested RSU, I want you all to RTO to do real work. my experience with WFH is 2 hours of work and 6 hours slacking off per day even with my current job.

Some people at the top who are taking vacations every month should be laid off, even if they are sr. dir.
Dell needs to use results for the business as determining criteria instead of " friendship" to hire or retain employees.

People have been fired for pointing out that they followed the manager's ask. And the emc mgr made the wrong decision.
I can assure you, emc 60+ mgmt is not worthy of leading people because they dont believe they made mistakes.
So incompetent mgr is as unpredictable as a monkey will a sword.

Have been almost entirely remote for 10 years here so any manager who suddenly thinks we have to be in the noisy distracting open floor plan hellhole of an office to do our jobs can take a hike. Resist until they stop asking. The more who ignore RTO the harder it is for them to enforce.

  1. Check Inside Dell for the latest information.
  2. If like me you don't feel comfortable returning to office tell your manager your concerns if they insist that you go, then talk to your teams HR rep (this is what I did).

Chances are if your issues are reasonable and you can back them up with data points, you have a good chance.

I used that for the past 3 years I have been healthy and that is in large part not being in a building with people who are sick and spreading germs and diseases. I called out in the last 3 years I have used 4 sick days compared to at least 10 days a year in the years before I was declared a Remote Employee.

Good luck.

In Dublin they have actually downsized the office but have told teams next week either return to site or be in breach of contract.
Now over the years I have worked in some great companies and some not so great but Dell has to be the worst.
Over the last 6 to 12 months it is such a chore getting up every day to work for an employer that just do not care in any way about staff.
Pay is sh-t.Job is tougher every day due to management having no clue.
Such a kick in the teeth that earnings are up and we reward shareholders and top brass but the boots on the ground have to fight for scraps when we are the ones doing dpible the work every quarter.
