Wireline is NOT for sale. All the unprofitable parts of wireline were sold in 2016.

This wireline discussion is getting confusing. In my mine wireline is anything that rides over copper transport or TDM switches. Now of course we all know that some of the TDM can ride over fiber between remotes and CO as well transport to tandems etc... For the company to be profitable than it needs to focus on an all fiber optic transport, VOIP, IPTV and mobility. Everything else needs to be phased out.

@3kzb If you can't have wireless without wireline, how do T-Mobile and Dish do it?
Sorry you actually can.

I always love a good FiOS vs 5g thread...
The union dopes praying for more buildout to justify their jobs
The wireless dregs wishing the engineers could make 5g a viable product so their jobs are worth something.
Neither can see the forest for the trees.
Aaahhhhhh.....
Good times!!!

Nothing is profitable from the landline side...you can't have wireless without it, but its a huge boat anchor generating nothing.

Hate to tell you, but no one buys unprofitable properties. They were sold because they were profitable and an easy sell to Frontier. Money was then wasted...shocker!

My 5GEE router works great too. It's from T-Mobile.

The Fios guys say they are planning major additions to the Lower Delaware area in the next 2 years. FIOS will be added to Fenwick Island, Georgetown, Millsboro, Dagsboro, Ocean View and Millville. Population shifts from high tax states making growth in FIOS Delaware a must.

5g turnover is insane. Dissatisfied customers mail back their cr-ppy router then get charged $200 for unreturned equipment.

@1mtr. Have you tried 5g home internet? Maybe one day it will be good, but it’s not ready for prime time just yet. Maybe one day, but I’ll be outta here by then. Most likely you too, cause they don’t need to pay you to mail a modem out.

That’s so cute! You actually think 5G was a success. Wall Street certainly doesn’t agree with you.

Look at how many fixed wireless access customers they are adding compared to fios adds. The only fios they are building out is the cr-ppy copper areas so the can eliminate the need for all the techs to keep fixing the copper. Which if the lazy union shmucks fixed right the first time wouldn't be an issue. Once fiber is in the air lazy schmucks will be gone.

They stopped the fios build. And the number of customers being added is pathetic. Yes gains but not many. It's good as sold.

Expansion of FiOS.
FiOS internet posts gains EVERY quarter
Hiring in NY/NE
OT
FiOS popularity among consumers in comparison to competitors

Wireline won’t be up for sale until something bigger and better replaces it….which is a long time coming.

Lead cables is not an issue. Most analysts say the WSJ article over exaggerated the amount of lead out there and any possible liabilities. Also the value of the copper in those cable will cover the cost of removal. And VZ has the least amount of lead cables among the big telcos.
As far as a sale it's just a matter of when.

Brightspeed is currently interested. Verizon is 100% interested in getting rid of landlines side. Interest rates are too high for their debt. 80% of the money comes from wireless.
