Do you think they will close CAP?

With the escape going away, they should move the explorer to LAP and close CAP. LAP has a great workforce that deserves continued product lines.
God i hope so. CAP has had some of the worst build quality in the company in the last decade and that is saying a lot.
The CAP culture is a reflection of Bill Ford and the Ford leadership. The culture was not created in a vacuum and has been allowed to exist and flourish for decades. And if we are being honest, the same culture thrives in the glass house and is pervasive throughout the entire company.
Ford wants to close CAP as soon as possible. Awful plant with an awful culture that produces products with awful quality.
CAP only exists as long as Ford keeps making the ICE Explorer. As others have said, Explorer EV type products will be built elsewhere
CAP is a money loosing plant. If I was Farley I would shut it down in December 2024.
New Explorer EV and Aviator EV are scheduled for production at Oakville Assembly in 2025. Oakville currently produces Edge and Nautilus. Edge being retired and 2024 Nautilus being imported from China.
@ytx There has been nothing announced regarding that EV Explorer getting sold outside of Europe. Current generation Explorer just got a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year so it has a few more years of production (at least).
Doubt it. The explorer is their 2nd best seller, even if it goes electric in 10-15yrs there’s still massive incentives for building it in the US
No. It's a socialist playground and Bill will save it somehow.
Yes it is guaranteed to close. Next generation Explorer is based on the EV European VW SUV. And it will be IMPORTED here to USA. Kiss Chicago Final Assembly Plant goodbye in 2024.
