So DWW wants to cut our salaries, benefits and now the educational matching. But we will be told to donate and donate towards United Way even though they take such a massive overhead. Let’s send our money where we want to don’t be forced for UW

@1jll+1optWjV3 ExxonMobil Favorite Charities was started due to the corruption in the DC region United Way. And with Favorite Charities they matched and gave off 1/2-1 day time with something like 95% participation. When they shutdown Fairfax , this was abandoned just like they abandoned the community.
Why don’t we just cut the Xom United way “manager” and staff, then give their salaries to multiple charities annually? Makes too much sense eh….
Most respondents here are more petty and uncharitable than any EM executive.
I’m with the folks who say there’s no need for EM to claim altruism on the backs of employees. But do people really think a roster of donors is brought to ranking discussions?!
After two years of no raises - BEFORE CoVid, I quit giving to UW. Was PIP’d within 2 years.
1kgm+1optWjV3 I guess no one is buying your rah rah posy!
Propping up communities through employing local labor is the best thing they can do for them. All the money they spend goes into local business, which helps employ other locals. UW is just for appearances.
I only donate to charities that has appeals to me/my family peronally, and as such I would like to donate under my own name instead of Exxonmobil. They are making billions a year, they can buy their reputation with their own money.
Ironically, the employees are part of the local community. Where is their dedication to them?
I actually enjoy the volunteer UW project labor - building sheds, painting safe houses, assembling bikes. I'm paid by EM to do it and probably the best, most fruitful work I do all year for the paycheck.
But that's just me.
Man, I work with a lot of "benevolent" cry babies.
I don't give my money to charities. Charity begins at home. Given how quickly we can be PIPed, the money is better saved, in my hands, for a future rainy day.
Besides, I pay taxes, which means the government can give my cash to their chosen charities.
My UW donation is in my PIP.
Below is a list of the people who give AF whether the OP or anyone else donates to the United Way:
You are more fortunate than others to work at ExxonMobil and it is your duty to give your fair share to the United Way.<
Hi @1kgm,
Duty? Ha! My a$%,
I get paid a wage to do a job. EM has made it clear to me that it's a transaction. SO, EM, don't ask me to give any of it away to your favorite; it's mine, all mine :) Actually, 93% goes to my family, 5% goes to charity groups that my wife and I pick, 2% other. We don't need a corporation to pick our charities. Too me, that is kind of weird.
- -9 where is their loyalty to us? Sending Amercan employment out of the country! Then virtue signal by having us donate in their name! No!
- -9 what a disgusting lie!
United Way is how ExxonMobil gives back to the community. The communities that we operate in recognize that ExxonMobil is a good corporate citizen. It is your obligation to uphold ExxonMobil’s reputation as a good corporate citizen and ensure that ExxonMobil is held in the highest esteem in the community. You are more fortunate than others to work at ExxonMobil and it is your duty to give your fair share to the United Way.
Stopped giving a few years ago. Doesn't impact fake ranking process anymore.
I miss ExxonMobil Favorite Charities from Fairfax. You got to pick who you donated towards. Much better to have choices.
I bet most of the people who complain about UW don’t donate to anything.
@OP Then don’t f’n donate to United Way. Problem solved.
5 year employee, I’ve never given a dime to UW, not will I ever.
I protested the year they dropped the 401k match by not giving to UW (first time after 30+ years at leadership level). They PIP’d me in response.
And publicly the donation to United Way comes from XOM, not from you. So you are only helping promote the illusion that XOM cares about the community by donating.
Just like EM they have a bloated management structure
