The California Department of Industrial Relations has announced that the minimum pay requirements for exempt computer software professionals will increase effective January 1, 2023, based upon an increase in the California Consumer Price Index. Effective January 1, 2023, the minimum salary for an exempt computer software professional will increase from $104,149.81 to $112,065.20 per year (from $8,679.16 to $9,338.78 per month). California’s computer software professional exemption is one of the few overtime exemptions that also permits exempt status with pay on an hourly basis. Also effective January 1, 2023, California is raising the minimum hourly rate for exempt computer software professionals from $50.00 to $53.80.

I wonder if they saw the recent news articles of the UPS union getting their $170,000 driver salaries approved or the In-n-out Burger CEO bragging about her managers making $180,000. Inflation is high and manufacturing is slow to the party.
