Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Frustrating

After the 2 VBOs and the migration to agile, so many incompetent people were promoted to leadership positions (SL, CL, CAL, etc). They are typically non technical people who were just getting by on who they knew. Now they are responsible for evaluating others for year end reviews and bonuses. They typically have no clue who is producing and who is simply kissing a-s. Going to be some angry people come year end (yet again).

it used to be a little different
if you were incompetent, the company would sink or go under maybe
but now there are giant players on wall street that can keep your company afloat
even if it deserves to go down

Highly skilled. Long time FTE.
Seen non skilled a-s kissers promoted faster than skilled workers.
Just the way it is in corp America. Skill and knowledge only gets you so far, one needs to also kiss some a-s to move on up the corp ladder.
Learn to say yes, don’t make waves and compliment those on higher rungs every chance you get.
Sad but true. Even at Fidelity.

Why were these two posts allowed to remain? Just people bi--hing because they are not skilled enough to get promoted or find a better job. How is this related to layoffs?

The ideal Fidelity employee is an a-s kisser, not too bright but not d-mb enough to fu-k something major up, and not threatening to fragile egos in leadership positions. It helps to also “look the part.”

If you’re technically competent, intelligent, and not prone to a-s kissing…you’ll get average bonus at best and no promotion unless you transfer out. Knowing this, don’t work yourself too hard. Although you might find it hard not too at times because stupidity is personally offensive to you and you feel compelled to clean up after the id--ts.

The last VBO had at least 30% white female BTW. Trust me Ned would be aghast. A couple high level HR personnel left last time too, they did not want to participate in this new corporate charade.
