What is it like, how did the process work? Cannot go into details because it would expose me, but I really want to get out through a layoff. Don’t want to slack or have poor performance, just want to shoot up to the top of the list in the quickest way without intentional bad behavior.

FLV definitely got a bad hand dealt to him. He was targeted and its Ford's loss to have let an important leader step away from the company.
If you are in IT, criticize AGILE methodology. If you are not, then take a shot at DEI, that will surely get you bounced.
LOA stands for ‘lots of accessories’….. like $10k purses of FLV
To the OP, depends on what the LOA is for. Personal health reason or FMLA will mean they cannot legally lay you off.
If you take a LOA for another reason then it certainly could lead to you getting on the next up list. Research reasons for a LOA. Maybe a church missionary trip. That will get you noticed for sure!

Ask Franck Louis Victor, he knows how it works.
IMO, a LOA won’t get you to the top of the list.
Just request a religious leave of absence. I doubt they'd even question it and it is allowed.
write an essay about how DEI doesn't work and how people should get raises
because of their productivity and contributions
it got that google engineer fired
Keep telling your boss the truth about everything and how management decisions are wrong. Complain in section meeting about everything. You will be gone in no time when layoff season comes around again.
Speak up in meetings with suggestions that good companies would take on. That’ll get you on the list.
