Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Can i take a new job offer and also keep working here?

I am planning to completely quiet quit here (i.e. coast) so I can collect 2 paychecks instead

Do it. I’ve been doing it all Covid. Just don’t turn on your cam for meetings. Not like you do anything else here

Read about 'overemployed' (subreddit & other spots) the whole premise is working multiple jobs

I had a GSR do this during the height of the pandemic. They were single, and did effectively work 16 hour days. They had the decency to let me know, got their work done on time and took the Ford benefits. At the new place they opted out of all the benefits (inc the 401k, as that's capped at $20k annually), and neither side was any the wiser. Technically you are supposed to declare to HR if you've got additional employment - directorships and the like (aka for LL2+, not grunts like us). If you can do it (and it is tough unless you're single), as noted somewhere else, you can pull in North of $250k, I'd say go for it. Make sure you keep your two work machines separate though :) Anything you do on your Ford laptop is property of the company (and the other firm likely has the same legalese in place)

Do it but of course make sure they are both remote and the the timings of meetings coincide.

Don't let to people discouraging you from doing it.

There is a while community behind this and what you are saying is called over employment.

Just be smart about it.
I've heard of people even taking up to 3 remote jobs and they're making close to 300k at that point

No, unless you are an executive, then you can be on your friend's companies board of directors, or you can work for DF in Model E.

You'd have to check your new employment contract to make sure it wouldn't violate that. Also, if your intentions and action are to do no work after taking the new one, that's criminal fraud, and likely a felony after just 1 week of pay/bennies. Now I get it, you management probably wouldn't figure it out for months, if ever. I suspect it would be the bennies that get you. These insurance companies have the laws so contorted, just to make sure they don't have to pay first when you have other coverage. They probably have some sort of loophole to notify your employer as well. If you can figure out a way to them telling Ford you have another job benefits them, go ahead and assume there is a legal and automated way that they do just that.
