Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Job is not worth fighting for

Lot of people are arguing and stressing out on this forum about their Ford job. Sc--w this company (all departments - no exception) and move on. The longer you stay here the worse you get. Choice is yours. Layoff is not a bad thing. It is a blessing in disguise and path to better companies and better life.

That is a ridiculous statement. You must have been handed everything your whole life.

Detroit area job market is terrible. Unless you're willing to move out of state there aren't a ton of better options here.

Not to be mean but if you still need to work a job at 50, it means either you really didn’t plan well or ( way less likely) you had some major life event that forced you to go back to work. Either way it’s on you

For us older folks in our 50s, losing our jobs at Ford is a big problem.

Companies don’t want to hire people older than 50, and every year older it gets harder to find a job. Even for specialists, companies are reluctant unless they are desperate.

@xjm+1oxMqQCb: Yes I listened to the THs. At first I thought it was a comedy skit on SNL. Then I realized it was Ford. Sorry to bust your bubble but DF does not impress people. his employment record speaks for itself. He does not stay anywhere very long. Now you have this stooge in charge of PD. Again his average time on a job is less than five years. That is a flag. I told my WS buddies that should be a RED FLAG.

I beg to differ. Have you even attended the Global Town Hall's or Doug Field's Town Hall's? Read any of the Ford+ Plan updates on the home page?

Ford's new business is going to be full of successes. All you have to do is open your eye's to the transformation plan. No doubt we will be ahead of the competition in future mobility.

Anyone who is not complaining or feels safe at Ford is in denial of truth or does not understand what is going on. If you think you can make a career at Ford you are kidding yourself. Model e business is not sustainable and will take the entire company down the drain. Everyone (no exception) is on a titanic now waiting to go under. Save yourself.

We are being held hostage by the economy and job market.

As soon as things get better, I am leaving as fast as I can and so will anyone with an ounce of ambition

It is annoying to see the constant complaining as if you're being held hostage. There are many other places you can work instead. If Ford is so awful and so unbearable, then do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
