Can you have someone help you to rewrite your post? Right now it is passionately incoherent.

Ignorance is supposed to be bliss, but you’re as vulgar & angry as can be. Doesn’t change the facts at all in Oriskany. And the fact is that you don’t work there or you would remember.

Does the separation agreement the Bank makes you sign include waiving your right to publicly disclose your layoff on social media or to the press? Maybe that's why more people don't post about it on LinkedIn...

@5hsh is sofa king we todd did.
Layoffs does NOT equal a location being closed.
And once again, link to any evidence of Charlie mentioning Oriskany or it didn't happen.
It's obviously not a growth center and may well close, but it's not absolute and nobody has ever uttered a word about it other than speculators.

300 displaced in Oriskany today. 4 years after Charlie’s 4 year warning. He-l yes I’m vindicated. So curse me for a good memory, but we in Oriskany were warned.

@4fsp, you should file for extended federal unemployment for having your job moved offshore.

The CAO is expanding and they are slated to replace MD’s. You read it here first.

I don't think "lay off" is appropriate any longer . It's you're position is being eliminated! Bull $hit ... eliminated for YOU IN YOUR LOCATION & FILLED IN India or Manchester!
JOKERS
My position was NOT eliminated and I was not layed off I was F'd over by a major corporation....my dedication meant nothing.

All these vague posts about mass layoffs and full departments gone yet fewer than 5 LinkedIn posts from people saying they were laid off from BNY this week. When other companies do mass layoffs it's very easy to confirm via LinkedIn. Nothing in the news or WARN. Anyone have details or is this board just full of fear-mongering fantasies?

Can anyone from Oriskany chime in and let us know how many initiated job searches afterCharlie’s guidance that Oriskany would be closed within 4 years? How successful were they in finding better jobs with such a relaxed timeframe?

Nobody making over $90K is going to be asking “would you like fries with that?”.

They are desirable employees all throughout Financial Services. I’d bet that they land in better positions, and quickly.

Worried for tomorrow - we were all told to WFH and not be in the office - guessing they don’t have anyone available to walk our a$$es out when we get the call

@2jri+1oyR6WgW - you really aren’t vindicated. You sound foolish seeing there were a couple layoffs in this site and nothing compared to PA or other locations. You’re the only one who recalls Charlie mentioning Oriskany cause it was in your dreams . Find a hobby

@1mhi

Welcome aboard. I’ve been mentioning Charlie’s four year guidance to Oriskany that offices were going to be closed ever since he warned us. It’s like nobody in Oriskany even recalled it.

I told people how to find the guidance in the old posts here.

Totally vindicated today. Next time pay attention children. I’m sure that many in Oriskany followed Charlie’s guidance and escaped.

For those that got notified in the US yesterday - are you getting the SUB package of 2 weeks for every year of service?

BONY was always a cr-p bank. Sc--w Bob Kelly and the horse he rode in on. He is the sole individual responsible for selling out Mellon to the fools in NYC. Look at how BONY pulled us back to the 1980s in every respect.

It is freaking disgusting.

Wish I knew who was let go. It’s all so quick and sneaky, never get to stay goodbye to people. People we’ve worked with for years.

Sorry to hear about the layoffs. Good luck to all of you going through this. If it wasn’t clear before, this is a company in serious decline and leadership has no idea how to fix it other than firing their staff. There is life after BNY and one day you will look back on this day with relief.

@1zvw, the worst part is it does NOT save the company money. More than 90% of those who were fired were making the company money. If they weren't they should have never been hired to begin with.

The state of this company is truly unfortunate, many good people ( across the spectrum ) were let go this past week and joking about it doesn’t make it any better. I’m sure there are some slackers in the mix too, but this really seems to be a financially motivated release and focused on “saving” the company money. For all those impacted, I wish you the best and hope for safe landing at a better company for each of you.

Wow… Charlie provided 4 year guidance to the closing of Oriskany, four years ago to the day. That’s incredible… in spite of all of the naysayers.

Wow.

HR is not about caring for employees. HR exists to protect the Bank from employees and their actions. Why do you think that Jolene is a Lawyer, as all HR heads are.

Does anyone know if going into the office had any impact on the layoffs? A few people let go on my team were based at home and other ones were flip about going to the office. Seems this wave was to get some of the high earners out in my area, but am just curious if they’re actually using the tracking too as a way to bounce people.

To all experiencing layoff- there is life outside BNYM. Today is disbelief. In a few days, relief.

There are great opportunities out here. If you are offered placement services, use them. Network. Catch up with past colleagues. You are better off- believe me!

I loved BNYM, liked my boss, loved my role and thought I was safe, was told there would be lots of work to do into next year. I was referring friends to come work there.

Was utterly blindsided by lay off today. In a daze.

This board is explaining a lot. Thank you.

What’s odd is the CAO area keeps expanding….. to the previous posters point about being humane about it… Instead of just letting people go, if HR was really for the employees, they could help identify positions that those being let go would be a good fit for and slide you into those roles.

That happened to me at a different firm years ago. But they were decent - not like the despicable greedy woke A--holes running this dump

Had more than a handful of co-workers laid off today 09/12. It's a shame what this company has become. And our boss told us nothing more that he can't promise anything for the ones left. I guess that is employment at will but you can be human about it. I think BNY should just close shop in US and settle in Poland and India that will be a great business model. This place stinks - and don't forget to go into the office and collaborate with the ever dwindling population!

I can’t believe how many callous and immature responses are on this site. I’m sincerely hoping that these are competitors or random hackers on here messing with people and not real BNYM employees. Some of you are real a$$holes that should be ashamed of yourselves. The people impacted here are human beings with bills to pay and are just trying to survive this nightmare without needing your two cents about it. Grow up and have some decency.
