You just have to laugh at how autocorrect mangles things sometimes….

That first sentence should have been, “ I just read that because OPEC has cut back production…”

I just read that because OPEC haha cut back production, “global oil markets face a supply shortfall of more than 3 million barrels a day next quarter - potentially the biggest deficit in more than a decade.”

Expect gas and diesel prices to jump up.

That affects car sales and basically prices of everything.

Be prepared for layoffs, layoffs everywhere.

Nothing is certain until ink dries on the UAW contracts. No point in speculating anything until the liabilities from those contracts are clear.

@hty+1oyn4pNF c’mon man. Things are great. If you bought toilet paper last year it is worth more now. 80 year cycle, except this time we have 80 years of the military industrial complex whereas before we did not. Also have much greater access to information (both true and false). Buckle up boys and girls. Soon we will learn just how underprepared and flawed this illusion of society truly is.

Aside from the speculation here, read the business web site where they're not afraid to go against the narrative that everything is great and getting better.

There are indications that all is not well with the economy.

For example, about half of potential car customers have been priced out of the market by high interest rates. They simply can't afford the monthly payments. Banks are making heavy use of the Fed's emergency bank funding facility. The economy of China appears to be unstable. A multi-country war may break out in Europe at any moment.

So, there may be layoffs everywhere.

There were layoffs at the end of August. I personally know two people that were affected.

Seems the new approach is a few dozen every month instead of ones giant big bang layoff.

What a great environment they've created.

The week of the 25th was speculation based on a couple of things. First, it’s before the end of the 3rd quarter just as June was the end of the 2nd. Second, it’s after the auto show and the UAW contract deadline.

The numbers were based on interviews of Ford executives last year.

Hard to predict the exact date, but more layoffs are coming before the end of the year. You can track back to one of Ford's worst CEOs, J Hackett's " Smart Redesign " targeting older salaried and pensioned employees followed by the fraud, J Farley who continued the practice as an effort to boost stock and operating costs.
Nepotism and the so-called ' friends and family ' plan has destroyed what was a profitable manufacturing company. Within the last several years Ford claimed to be a mobility company, then a data a subscription company and claims to be " all-in " on EV.
All the EV programs are delayed: Lightning, Mach-E, EV Explorer and its Lincoln counterpart have dismal sales and are ignored by customers and the press ( unless paid for by FoMoCo ).
Farley continues to backtrap, sounding like a fool. Lawler is visibly jittery, heknows this isn't sustainable as investors and dealers continue to question their poor decisions and lack of results. Truby is ignored, it's laughable what he tweets, only to be ignored.
Everyone is at a standstill, afraid to take any action. All the so-called talent brought in from the outside, especially by D Field point fingers afraid to be held accountable. F Louis-Victor is an enormous fail, billions spent without any roadmap to profitable business. Doubt Stern will do any better. Tesla stock surges over 9% as Ford continues to decline. The studios look terrible, everything looks like poor copies of Teslas and Nissans, yet no one once again is held accountable. After D-Ford was decimated, it's concerning why haven't the design studio leadership been terminated, none of the vehicles resonate with dealers and customers! So, are more layoffs coming, of course they are. When? could be next week, next month but guaranteed they are coming. Farley will stop at nothing to save his own skin and the greed of the Ford family ( including those on the BoD ) will eliminate NA jobs, offshore jobs and simply reduce workforce for their gains. Do your homework and track all the actions ever since Hackett backstabbed and maneuvered his was from the failure of ' Ford Smart Mobility ' to CEO and Farley's alignment and support by E Ford and A Ford. Pathetic. Good luck to all, the rest of 2023 is going to be very very ugly.
